Multiplay (UK) :: Public :: TF2 (09) (Battle Creek 24/7) 3 snip

Any chance at all of adding my version to the battle creek server.?
i remember when we had the tf2 version of battle creek on there and it was awesome to play both versions.

but worth an ask if you could add my map to play on.

GameBanana: Ctf_Super_Battle_Creek4 (Maps > Team Fortress 2 > Capture the Flag > Ctf_Super_Battle_Creek4)

I'll get that and give it a run and see what the regulars think of it. I did try another version of it some time back (not yours) which looked pretty but ultimately people preferred the one that's on now, despite its flaws. I shall certainly give it a whirl though.

Would just like to say thanks to Parva and multiplay for giving my version of Battle creek a go.

as a Battle creek regular. there's a few things "speaking for the other" regulars i'd like to see change.
increase the cap limit to 10 insted of 3.. because you can fast cap really quickly on BC ether rocket jumping or nade capping as demo. even ctf_vikings_final has a cap limit of 10

and the other thing is. any chance of getting the tf2 version of bc back on the server (ctf_Battle_creek_tf2_a"

if your going to have only the one map of bc please at least implement the intel capture limit.

I can only apologise for my somewhat scathing remarks of your version of the map. I realised afterwards that I was probably rather harsh about it. It was worth a test though, nothing ventured nothing gained allegedly....

Its ok i totally understand if you didn't like it, thats the reason i wanted to try it out really if people liked it enough i was going to update it and continue to update and fix it.. as it was only a prototype.

but was'nt the case so fair enough.

I've tried asking Pippa before about putting the other version of battle creek on there with the original, but she or he said that they didn't think they would be changing the battle creek server ever again. which Saddends me because BC is one of my favourate servers no question.

Hopefully if anymore Regulars of Battle creek join up to multiplay forums they'll see that at Least one of battle creeks Fan's has tried to help the community and change the server for the better.

I have also made a version of this map

I know you and the regular server players may be frustrated by multiple map changes, but I have compiled an update to the current map that is useful without any major changes, and i suggest you at least give it a trial run to see what people think.
Changes are as follows:
<Added health and ammo packs in various areas of the map
<Added accessibility to the upper RED roof, to make the bases more balanced
<Fixed a few gaps in the terrain that caused glitchy behaviour when walked over
The map can be downloaded at ctf_battle_creek_sog.bsp
Thankyou very much for your time, and I hope the players enjoy the New map!

would'nt say they/we are frustrated by multiple map changes, there's only one map after all.
the original "battle_creek" before it became "battle_creek_s" had health packs under the cliffs in the creek.

i'll download your map to check it out.
but the main problem with battle creek which i'm sure you'll agree is the fast capping that goes on, players are forever telling people not to cap because it ends the game to quickly and the map restarts, thus why i have suggested about upping the map capture intel limit.

Also as you've probably fixed in your map you know the blue base is not equal to the red base and also contributes to fast rocket or nade capping, as the blu base is too hard to defend even with multiple engineers.

My Alpha version of bc (super_battle_creek_4) although has many problems the major thing i did change was the intel returning to the bass if not picked up within two seconds making it EXETREMELY challenging to acctually try and run away and capping the intel.

personally i'd just like to see the cap limit increased and at a stretch see "battle_creek_tf2_a" returned on the server.

I agree

I agree that the map requires changes to make capping more challenging, but I was unable to find the settings for intel return speed and intel cap limit, so if anyone could make those changes to my existing version it would be very much appreciated

that map is the map i have been asking to be put back on the server its called "ctf_battle_creek_tf2_a"
or as i know it, the Team fortress 2 version of battle creek with all tf2 textures etc.

the more Battle creek players we can get on to the forums to ask about it the better.

i'm unsure why they decided to only have 1 version only on battle creek, i agree with you that it was soo much better with the original "ctf_battle_creek_s" and the tf2 version "ctf_battle_creek_tf2_a".
i heard a rumour that it was supposedly unpopular!, but who are these people who says its unpopular, where are they on the Multiplay User forums?.

I think the admins should try and cast a revote.

you change the intel return speed time on the intel (case) under how many seconds it has before it returns to spawn.

the capture limit is mostly set by the server.

ether have the quick returning Intel like i had
or increase the capture intel limit to 10 insted of 3

Checked your version out S.O.G.

its no different from the normal "ctf_battle_creek_s" as you've only added ammo and health packs and put barrells on the red roof so that players can get to the window, the blu base is still not equal to the red.

sure my version might look like a load of crap but at least its a new take on battle creek.

I say we need to Moan at the admins to put back on the "ctf_battle_Creek_tf2_a" version back on the server the "Team fortress 2 textured version", its as good if not better than the original.

Look at Bionicnoodle's link for pictures.

GameBanana: ctf_battle_creek_tf2_b (Team Fortress 2 > Maps > Capture the Flag > ctf_battle_creek_tf2_b)

better than "ctf_battle_creek_tf2_a"

i think so..

its the team fortress 2 version but a beta/final.

I already have many versions installed (tf2_a and tf2_b amongst them) and am willing to either try one 24/7 or alternatively make a rotation. I have however run two versions of BC in rotation in the past and it was a server clearer. The problem is that many players do love it how it is despite some complaints on the fast capping front. Virtually everytime I change a popular server filling map for another I'll get some saying "Wow, this map rocks" and invariably many others saying "This map sucks". It's a no win situation. I'll look at changing the caplimit on the current map and also change the map to whichever map you guys think is an improvement for 24 hours and monitor the comments but if it kills the server then I'll be forced to switch back.

oh defantly give tf2_b a go with the normal "ctf_battle_creek_s".

i totally understand the situation Parva, but i don't believe just having "tf2_b" and "ctf_battle_creek_s".. will kill the server population, if anything it'll increase it. back when it uset to have both maps running i never remember a shortage of players if anything i found it more difficult to join a game of battle creek because the server was always full!..

please do monitor the comments, you'll see oh its the new battle creek "yay" comments.
and exspect me to show up for my battle creek fix lol.

i understand if it does'nt work out that you'll just go back to the one map, and as a FAN of the server and map can't say fairer than that really, but its defantly worth a go..

at least those "tf2_b" "tf_a" maps are professionally done and really look the buiness unlike my Prototype.

Ok I've added 'tf2_b' to the server so each map will run for 40 minutes. We'll see how it goes.
