With essentials, and I'd recommend against it - you'll be looking at 1gb. With a better working plugin or set of plugin(s) 600mbs. Commandbook, worldedit, voxel sniper all would be good alternatives. Also, with 1-2 players, why do you need permissions, jobs or Icononmy? If you're intending to grow, then you will need scope for a lot of different plugins to combat the griefer menace - all in all I go with the 1gb.

To mainly answer the jobs and stuff, If I had me + 3 others, it would get boring having to search for all the items, and i dont want to use the "give", THey need to work for the items.

running:
iconomy
essentials
essentials geo ip
essential spawn
chestshop
lockette
multihomes
worldeditand
worldgaurd

and some other small stuff like bedheal, noexplode, no more rain adn i have upto 8 players and 600mg, we have about 5-6 players on and it seems to run fine 95% of the time.

but like i said mate, im a novice and i set it up with essentials and dont really want to mess with it, so other would have more knowledge as to what to use from the start.

If you stick to 1 - 2 worlds even some of the hefty plugins will be fine on 600mb.

Just a note to all the other Server admins I saw the last update to server.properties it had reset a lot of my settings so if you have had the nether disabled might wanna recheck ;D

Also I disable the_end simply because no one even cares for it. Gives a small amount of ram back to the server. From 4 worlds I was running 800 - 900mb (with quite a few plugins) to 2 worlds now 400 - 500mb things are a lot nicer ;D

Anyway with your list of plugins I see no problems it running on a 600mb server with 3- 5 ppl.
But if you can go thru essentials and look at the parts you use, most of the time most people will only use a small amount of essentails which can be done by smaller lots of plugins.

Okay so If i Had The regular world,+ Nether, then I would be okay with 600mb? cause I used the server you can download, and it was lagging alot, plus I had to switch the ram to 1g and it still did it with no plugins...

Also, If someone could just explain to me how I could put my bukkit stuff into it so it will run it, that'd be nice too.

If you use Essentials, we recommend 1G+.

That is because you can't disable the_end in vanilla...... And you actually generated 3 worlds. Which take 500 -600mb ram + a new world which you were generating new chunks in.

Also when you run a server and MC client unless you have 4Gb ram + (for win7 or vista) you can expect a preformance drop. Try running it on another computer if you have one then connect to it.

On my computer right now I can log onto my server and get 30 - 57fps on far but if i host a server and play then i get about 6 - 21.

As for bukkit you have to download it from their site and then you run it instead of running the vanilla.

You start it by using a bat file like the vanilla server. Any plugins that you have go in the plugins folder.
Edit the server.properties and bukkit.yml (if generated) to what you wish.

bukkit.yml contains the ability to disable the_end.

If you mean how do you run bukkit off multiplay's servers then all you have to do is:
Log into clanforge.
Goto Profiles
Create a bukkit profile and apply to the server
Thats it.(also configure but thats more to do with after running it for the first time)

Okay, So I got the server finally, now I went to ClanForge and on the add-ons it has a bunch of pluigns. Now would these be the ones I have to select that I downloaded, or these are ones they downloaded for us to use?

Okay, this will probably be my last question, unless something one says stirs up one. I went and got the CommandBook, but it says I dont have permission to do anything. How can I give myself permissions to use it, and how I could use the GroupManager.

Please ignore the post above, unless you are going to tell me those are the ones I must have.

You need to setup a permissions plugin.
PremissionsBukkit is easy enough.

There is a thread that is stickied that has a guide on how to set it up.

With the addon list just ad what ever ones you want and it gets placed into your server without having to do anything more ;D
(apart from setting the config and restarting it)

It should auto generate one for you. Use that as a template to add and remove things.
There are many and many of posts about permissions bukkit.
Complete server beginner, sorry
Start at post #7 I explain it thru there and also link to the thread that has a guide on it.
If you have any questions about it just post again.

Well I just need to know how to give permission for CommandBook since it does not say on a guide I used

Edit: Also I have checked in the config and it says: Give all Ops permission. Well I gave myself Op status and it still does not work

you add the nodes. Command book has a lot of them but for admins you can add this one:
commandbook.*: true
Visit the command book website and there is a page that has all the permission nodes you can add.

Find the ones you want to use and add them. There is quite a few there.

Okay so I type commandbook.*: true under commandbook.config.yml?

Also it says you can use * to use all of them and I was wondering if that would work instead of adding all the ones I want

you add it to the permissions file. PermissionsBukkit/config.yml
I do not recommend giving all your users the ability to ban tp give items kit and everything that comes with command book. The most powerful permissions are the <PluginName>.* it gives people all the commands that come with the plugin.

This is the most annoying and frustrating parts of setting up a server ... the permissions ..

Anyway in the permissionsbukkit config just put the nodes in(start off small and test), you may only wish to put a handful of them in to start with and come back another time.

I'm off to bed so someone else might be able to help if you get stuck.
