Minecraft 1.8 Server

Hey

Why can't I reach my server?
Isn't it supposed to be automatically updated to 1,8? When I add the server to the new server connection on Minecraft, I get a communication error. When I do a direct connect, I get "outdated server"

How do I fix this?

You have to wait till they update it, it is not an instant process it will be up as soon as they get it working. (hint they need bukkit so you can use Rcon which talks to the clanforge page.)

So follow @craftbukkit and when MP gets the time to get it running you will have it. They cannot update something that is not there.
As for vannilla you still have to wait till they work it out.

The ETA is "when it's done". I can't be more specific than that.

Once that is out a little while after(depending on time) MP will be able to put this on the servers.
And the Clanforge News RSS When they say that it is ready it will be ready. Timeframe wise it is very vague to put a number on it as vannilla should be out soon for MP and then bukkit out when they have finished.

Can't we just FTP in and upload up the new server Jar file?

I'm not interested in plugins or anything like that. Straight up Vanilla minecraft will do us.

I was going to rent a minecraft server for 1.8. me and my friends really want to get into it and I am going to rent a server so we can play.

As I understand it then we have to wait until they support 1.8 and that should be within the next seven days?

Wait, why are we waiting for a CraftBukkit release? For past updates a vanilla version was made available before bukkit. You can still see them in clanforge if you go to create a new profile.

Just keep checking Clan Forge news. Most servers won't be up and running until Craftbukkit is updated which is why he brought it up.

Vannilla will be out before craftbukkit they are working on supporting it now. I see that my last sentance was a bit mushed into the paragraph before hand so I can see where your confusion was.

Just then bukkit seemed to finish ;D so wont be long I hope but by the sounds of it there wont be a RB till they work out some more builds. Edit: Nope, just checked he had just finished 2 of the stages xD this is what happens to my brain at 1am

You can but it wont work as it doesn't talk to the front end of Clanforge(possibly the backend too with the ports and what not) Best off waiting till they at least release vannilla because what good is a server that you cannot access? ;D

and it is not working with servers because it's 4 hours since releaseof 1.8

They're working on it, it's only a matter of time I'm sure but since they need to get the server to interact with ClanForge these things take time. Here's the latest I've seen .

I didn't even think of the clanforge one.

I mostly just keep the RSS feed so I can get it in a nice menu. I get lazy with twitter I only follow one person as most of the time I can't be bothered to login

This was completed this afternoon, usually takes us just a few hours from when notch releases to having the new version available as our "vanilla" server offering

Vanilla is now out, Bukkit will be available once the Bukkit team release a 1.8 compatible recommended build.

No bukkit 1.8 "recommended build" has been released yet, we only install RB's.

If you want to try a test build you can do so by FTP, but be warned they aren't recommended by the bukkit team for a reason.

[Wahrheit]

Obligatory warning that non recommended builds have the increased potential to corrupt your worlds, cause your server not to work, etc. If you manage to bork your server and it won't start:

1) Delete minecraft_server.jar
2) Perform TWO FTP Resets. TWO. 2.
3) Start server.
