So, having read the multicolored tutorial on Minecraftforum (Tutorial: Create Multicolored MOTD's! - Minecraft Forums)
How to make a line-break in your MOTD: Simple use @ and it will be replaced with a line-break. Quite simple, i found the solution by asking google, but you don't have to do that ![]() How to use multiple colors in your MOTD: If you want more info, i highly suggest going to the thread on Minecraftforum.net, the link is above at the start of the post. All credit goes to TheCheeseman there. Quote:
Here is an image with the proper ingame colors, i found this on Minecraft Wiki (Classic Server Protocol - Minecraft Wiki): ![]() ---------------------------------------- If you want a quick copy/paste MOTD so you can test if it all works for you, there is one: Code:
§aWelcome to Minecraft!@§cHello.§e Build§d something§a fairly§b epic! ---------------------------------------- Hopefully this little how-to will help those of you who haven't been able to figure it out, or simply too lazy to even try :P I will update the post with links and images once i've gotten the correct about of posts for the permissions to use those. Line breaks in the the MOTD line in server.properties works fine, but I noticed that in motd.txt or rules.txt it does not -- also if these files are too long, clients crash when doing /motd or /rules.
Also gold is available on these forums Mixed opinion on whether it is gold or orange.

&8Welcome to &5Thatz-Gaming! &8Remember to read the &cRULES &8at spawn!
I pasted this with the § sign in my server.properties under the line; MOTD= It was there standard, however, ingame it shows up as: ?8Welcome to ?5Thatz-Gaming! etc.

There is a bug if the server lags when showing the MOTD, because the coloring is rendered on the client, if the MOTD lags (don't know how exactly) the client will just show the text and not the colors, not sure this is what is happening to you, but it might be. did you replace all & with §? it sounds odd that it doesn't work for you, i've just copy/pasted yours and did the changes i mentioned in the first post, and it works fine (niettevolgen posted the same one i tried)

Note: The code that broke it was including a color code before a linebreak.

I cant get the first line with color to break for some reason. this is my code. the line doesnt break after the first §
motd=Welcome to Nation Zero! @say /help for a list of available commands. @sign up at our forums at Nation Zero or you will not get put on the whitelist. §c@ I will be turning the whitelist on §2April 4th I've changed the order of the lines, I've changed the order of the symbols, nothing works. all of the other line breaks work everytime. also, is there a command to change the MOTD? restarting the server everytime is a real pain.

The thread have helped me a lot, still I get some problems... :S
My MOtD is= §2Welcome to the.... so on and so forth. I do get the colored text, but there is a grey questionmark in front of the entire motd. Why is that? And how do I fix it? Thank you! ![]() NVM! I tried to use these codes (http ://i.imgur.com/Hdfwe.png | remove the space after http I can not poste links yes..) instead and it worked perfectly fine! To get a gold/orange text I used: \u00A76Welcome to the Snowblock Server! And everything is done in the settings tab No need to mess around with the .properties
