i37 Toilets

Will the toilets be decorated with sick 24 hours a day like i36 was , needs improving, anyone agree?

also some1 decided to puke in a sink, is that due to people using the cubicles to tommy tank? so they had nowhere else to go? or just pure lazy and disgusting

to be quite honest I thought the toilets were in a lot better condition then previous lans. There was still bog paper on the floors and the odd blocked toilet but on the whole many were just about usuable. Mostly I used the ones at the back left of the event and the odd time the ones in the shower block

To be honest i found the ones at the back of the hall more than useable. Had tot ake a dump a couple of times and was fine.... just abuse the seat with toilet paper (american pie style! LOL) nay bother.

If people are talking around turtle heading, why not approach the helpdesk and request cleaners or something ?

You know what would be nice... If some of you* actually washed your hands!
The amount of ppl that go in and then right back out while I was trying to dry my hands (yes, those hand dryers are fail) was nasty, hopefully they were not sharing their pc's with anyone.

Would it really kill you to leave the toilet how you would like to find it?

* = Not implying that you, reader of this post did not wash your hands.

yeah the toilets and showers were better BUT it seems like the cleaners only clean before and after the event. It's not nice walking into the showers with a clog of someone elses pubic hair or into the toilets and have aload of urine all over the floor or w/e :/

but yeeee i didnt have much problems to be fair, its a lan not a 5 star hotel

ye some valid points here, im sure it was better than previous lan's, but lets make it even better

i dont think there was soap for the entire event in the strollers toilets, had to go to the others.

Just smelling the puke in that toilet made me want to hurl, the other toilets at the bottom of the main hall werent bad, just despite that one person spewing in the sink

Me personally, I used the disabled toilet in the gents if it was free as it was generally cleaner. I simply used a baby wipe on the toilet seat to get rid of any aids that was lurking on it and i left it in a clean condition (it also had its own sink which was convenient!)

I also used baby wipes to wipe my hands with before and after eating when at my PC! (a good trick tbh!)

don't want to bang the dry event drum more than i have to, but wouldn't this be another problem reduced by a dry event? people drinking too much (note the phrase "too much", it's not as though alcohol produces an allergic reaction as soon as you take your first drink) and being sick messing up the event for everyone else who has to use the facilities. it's either that or people can't stomach the cr@p that they're eating

Sorry to say this but even if MPUK did make it a dry event its not going to stop people drinking outside the BYOC Hall or at their tents because you can bring your own alcohol but not bring it inside the BYOC Hall so we are still going to see people pissed up even more because they will be getting cheaper booze from elsewhere and drinking it at thier tents.

yup thats true, i dont think it should be a dry event, and as u say people would drink outside anyway. The problem is people drinking more than they can handle, thats partly down to our drinking culture :P, and people being too stupid to realise their limits. Ye i drink a fair bit, i enjoy myself, but i have enough control to not ruin the event for others.

So is there actually a viable to solution to all this?

having a 'dry' event won't stop anything. You can drink anywhere else... so no, this would not solve the problems. And it would be very unfair on the responsible drinkers (such as myself).

So no, stop talking about this dry event bs and ruining fun for everyone else because some 12 year olds can't handle a shandy.

Because having a dry event really stops determined people from drinking... anyone who's been to DreamHack (Wizzo, Boffbowsh and many others in MPUK Staff and Friends) knows that there are ways round it. (It's almost a standing joke at DreamHack that we 'Brits' get drunk there)

Surely it's not just the volume of alcohol drank but the hangover the next day too. I remember it being so hot at i34 I had to leave the main hall a few times cause I had a cracking hangover from friday's 'initiation' night

I think people just need to be aware of their own personal hygene and respect others too. If any kid makes me ill from their dirty ways I will personally come and be sick on them and see how they like it!

Not being able to bring your own alcohol into the event hall made an improvement over i34 I found. It was still messy in the toilets but better than i34.

I don't think a dry event is fair on those who are able to hold more than half a pint and like the odd refreshing pint every now and then.

Maybe the bar staff should be made to enforce not serving alcohol to people who are obviously already too drunk. I believe it is an offence to serve alcohol to a drunk person in the UK.

You've never been allowed to bring your own alchohol into the event hall at Stoneleigh.

Could we get the outside toilets by the quiet campsite/farm shop open this time, is a long trek from the quite campsite to the ones by the hall.

To be quite honest the check doesn't even go that far. When my bags were looked at they were more looking for maybe a laptop slid inside not at the actual gear. And bringing things in I could have easily brought alcohol in (and many did)

Dry event = not possible.

The only element of Stoneleigh that MPUK has control of and could make "dry", is the event hall itself. People drinking in tents is their own business (especially during the day, when noise is not an issue), the Farm Shop has a seperate licence (and a nice range of ale's) and Kenilworth is a 5 minute taxi ride away and is festooned with bars.

As has been mentioned, on inumerable occasions, the problem isn't alcohol, it's too much alcohol. I and a number of my clan mates got drunk on EAS night and on Saturday, caused no major problems and none of us were sick anywhere.

There are people who are incapable of drinking responsibly wherever they are in the world, why would being at a LAN party make any difference ?

Well, this will be my first LAN and since I can't afford a shiney hotel room I have been wondering about the state of the facilities! Are we only talking about the gents here or are the ladies just as bad? Also (as much as I hate to sound like a total girl) would there be anywhere to plug in a hairdryer, for example?
