The issue with the camping area

Camping - awesome
Sleeping - Problematic

We either need a dedicated "this is a sleeping area" or a no f'ing around rule in the campsite after a certain time.

I went to bed at 3:30 last night, politely asked a group of people who were having a loud social a few meters away from my tent if they could move it, go to sleep or just generally quieten down - I was told in no uncertain terms "no why should we?". - You sir are an arse.

I'd like to say ty to the person in that group who then pointed out to his friends that it was 3:30 and they were taking the piss and they did quieten down after 10/15 minutes.

Now I get the feeling out of the 2000 people here not many would approach a group of 10 or so semi-intoxicated people in a camp site with a plea of sensibility and compassion. So its no use telling other people to "just ask them to be quiet" as they wont - its that simple.

Realistically there is a serious need for security to perminently be present at the camp sites and to move people on, move people off if they don't really understand the principle of common decency.

On a side note - before an mpuk peeb says "Why didn't you ring reception"

I did. 3 times, no answer - and having to ring reception is NOT the answer regardless.

I nearly lost the plot last night due to the noisy buggers in the tent even though Ear plugs i could hear them screaming and yelling and just acting like a bunch of idiots. It is a sleeping area not a lets see how much noise we can make area. I went to be at 11.30 and didnt get to real sleep until about 4am. Not fun. So if you see a tired grumpy looking Vikx on reception today that's why.

In the end Limi rang reception there was no answer, so we tried again then some one answered. All that happens was security walked about with a torch said nothing did nothing.

I didn't hear any real noise last night at all, it's certainly much quieter than your average festival, I didn't even need ear plugs. Maybe I'm just at the quiet end of the campsite?

now now, they might have been kicked in the nuts and had squeaky voices due to waking people up.

I couldn't agree more with that.

There are places on site to socialise like the bar and food court. Why do people have to go on till the small hours of the morning. Its not like they are talking, they seem to have the need to shout to each other when they are in a small group.

If you were at home trying to sleep and you had people outside you home doing this you would politely tell them to "sod off!"

Yes, to whoever it was, thanks for the enjoyment of your talking/shouting/slapping all night, it was much appreciated.

Camping idiots who don't know when to shut up

I would just put the image into the thread, however its 2.2mb and I don't have my PC here to re-size it down to something acceptable.

I haven't heard a great deal of noise tbh but then I didn't expect to get large amounts of sleep here anyway, and have averaged 4 hours each night just from being sat up till late inside

But who goes to a 'festival' and expects to have a silent camping experience? Seriously? Whenever I go to such I am fully prepared to get very little sleep, I look at the lan as being pretty much the same. If I wanted to get 8 hours a night I would check into a hotel or camp elsewhere away from the rest (as I did in newbury).

I think other people need to take this view. If you have been to any other festival you will know the noise here is nothing compared to what it could be.

Ear plugs work a treat too.

It isn't that people don't expect some noise i think it seems to be the level of the noise at this event and the stupid antics that seem to be taking place on a larger scale than before. It doesn't help that the tents are so squashed together so you can hear someone breathing in the tent next to you never mind feeling like you are part of their conversation. I would say the majority of people wouldnt mind go back to their tent and hearing people chatting and having a laugh but its the fact that som,e people feel the need to shout and lark about and be generally disruptive, there are other places to socialise too.

Ear Plugs do not work if they are in the tent next to you........

As for people camping really close to you, there is one way to fix that as i've learned over the years... Barrier tape!

If you can't control people butting their tent right up next to yours then section of your area with some tape... its what people do at other festivals and also means the drunks can't walk past and trip on your ropes during the night. It can be picked up for about £4 from hardware stores.

The only issue with this is obviously more of an area will get used up per 'group' of tents. But as long as campers are sensible with it then its not a major issue.

But tbh the camping area here is absolutely no where near as full as i've seen it at other events where you literally cannot walk though without stepping on the flysheets. Here is a luxury in my eyes.

The camp site closest to the entrance didn't look anywhere near full Friday. Perhaps that one is better.

In all fairness, I have to agree with a point made in a previous post.

Due to the tight space (and i'm not moaning about this) and the fact being that it is a festival, it'd be foolish to think that you wouldn't hear loud noises during the night.

Almost everyone is within close proximity of each other. Sincerely, if you wanted to remove the bad sleep from your i34 experience, don't camp - book a hotel room.

I recommend ear plugs, 6 pints of lager and at leat 7 or 8 glasses of red wine.....I slept like a baby......awoke refreshed and full of the joys of spring.

At least the fellow you spoke to, politely called you an "ar*e".
He sounds like a good natured drunk to me.
Was he a handsome fellow with a rakish grin?

I can see both sides of this, some people come to i-series to undwind, let their head down and general get away from the wife, kids, work etc... and of they want to drink until 3.30 AM then fine, let them do it, I hope it relaxes them.

On the flip side, I can understand why people get fvcked off by people seeming to be shouting at 3.30am, although there are countless corners miles away from the camping area you could go pitch and have a silent night.

You must be very straight laced if for a couple of nights a year you can't let some drunken antics pass you by. Are you staying sober or something? Only I find after a few pints I easily fall alseep and continue through to the morning.

There are ample ways to get around it mentioned above... follow one of them. Don't let something which can be fixed ruin a good weekend.

In these environments it really is worth having some beers each evening coz it really does assist in falling asleep.

Be thankful it isn't teens lobbing gas canisters onto a fire next to your tent, or a generator grinding away all night chucking diesel fumes in your direction. That is what you get at all the others!
