Windows 7 Student download problems here

just tried running the 64bit student download on my 64 bit win7 RC install:

win7 by *guyver1 on deviantART

UPDATE:

If you get this error it means the download app didnt download the setup2.box file, get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/t0qmyw2twmd/setup2.box (Thanks Vazzan)

Follow this thread after you've unboxed the box files:

http://www.sevenforums.com/general-d...tml#post320334

BUT use this syntax for the cmd prompt:

oscdimg -bC:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com -h -u2 -m -lWIN_EN_DVD C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\expandedSetup\ C:\7.iso

burn ISO to disc.

UPDATE2

it works , now typing from retail \o/

I can't really see because of the error message but do you have a file called setup2.box? if you don't and have 64 bit professional I could upload it somewhere for you

I'm in absolutely the same position as you. I downloaded it last night, all those files exist and it's even unboxed them all, so I went for gold and burned them to a disc but it won't recognise the disc on boot.

I'll give them a call later on.

Make bootable iso from student d/l - Windows 7 Forums

UPDATE

the correct syntax for the DOS promt is:

oscdimg -bC:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com -h -u2 -m -lWIN_EN_DVD C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\expandedSetup\ C:\7.iso

So I've downloaded the Windows 7 Student files for Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I have all three files, the .exe and the two setup files. When I run the .exe file, I run into the same error with the read-only thing. I've also tried the suggestions from url that was posted earlier but I get the same error. I'm at a lost, can someone please help?

no problem,

MS support phoned me back twice to follow up on my support query. really nice chap, german i think.

Seems its nothing to do with MS, its all Digital Rivers fault, MS sell DR a license to sell Win7, then its totally up to DR how they manage and package those sales.

Guy told me they've had a massive volume of calls this morning due to this student download fiasco. He agreed with me that the download option should have included 2 file packages, 1 for an in-place upgrade, and an ISO image for a clean install. Hopefully DR will sort their **** out and fix this mess.

Well i got my link from digitalriver today and the damn thing wouldnt let me download the download manager. Tried several times, but after 10 iunsuccessful attempts to download the download manager i get a message telling me that im only allowed to download 10 times and tough luck basically.

Digital river arent responding to emails atm, and no physical copy arrived either, so they didnt anticipate the must advertised postalk strike. Serious these guys are a bunch of cowboys. Presumably they seriously underestimated bandwidth requirements. The bit that really annoys me is I even paid extra for them to keep an electornic copy permanantly and yet I can only download it 10 times!

Complete and utter ****tards if you ask me....

can you paste me the file sizes when you right click\Properties

you could try downloading Vaz's setup2.box and replace yours with that one. My DL manager didnt even DL the 2nd box file at all.

also what OS are you trying to unbox them on?

I think Digital River might have been complete f**ktards and made the .exe a 64bit application but i'm not 100% sure on that bit. But what it would mean is that it would only run properly on a 64 bit OS....

DM is specific to each version, so if he ordered home premium it wouldnt work as it would download the Pro version.

I'm assmuing that as the file is named DLMWin7Pro64UK.exe
