Adam Mapleson - PCGamer, reallife hero, and multiplay lan attendee!

Adam Mapleson is the fellow who was shot whilst thwarting an armed robbery in Rayleigh, Essex the other day. The BBC carried a story where his dad made a statement, and mentioned Adam was a keen pc gamer. As all keen PC gamers aspire to attend an iseries lan i wondered....

so i bashed his name into google and....

he showed up in the clanforge player logs from i27!

under the gamer tag Choronzon, playing in the CS:S tourney

The BBC says he's 24, from essex. Anyone from MPUK able to have a shufty into his booking ID and confirm if Adam and Choronzon are one and the same?

Hope he pulls through. He's awake but hmm .. gunshot to the chest.
If he makes it, we need to make him a cake with "wallhack" on it.

Its people like him that make you remember that there are still forces of good in this world.

Its heart warming.

He really does deserve free lannage.

And I hope he fully heals so I can meet him hopefully.

I just saw the news (noticed the MPUK lanyard). It's such a shame that something like this has happened, I hope they catch whoever did it.

He did indeed attend i27 and i28 under the nick Choronzon.

I don't know him personally, but wish him all the best and, fingers crossed, a speedy recovery.

He clearly needs free LAN entry and a special certificate for foolish rushing.

Hope he recovers ok, would be good to shake his hand and get him a beer.

Huh... they said on the news something about him having a Facebook page, and being an IT worker, and my first thought was 'I wonder if he's a lan attendee'.

Seems I was right.

He did a very brave thing though - he deserves recognition for that.

Me - I'd have been fleeing at full speed. But then, I am a coward.
