BF2142 BETA Patch V1.40

The latest BETA patch for Battlefield 2142 is now available on our fileserver. We have both the Incremental (v1.25 to 1.40) or Full (Retail to 1.40) flavours available.

XIII. UPDATE 1.40
=================
- Fixed an exploit that would allow commanders to call Orbital and EMP strikes before it had fully recharged.
- The Clark RDX Shotgun can now detonate other nearby explosives.
- EU Assault Rifle recoil and deviation have been slightly reduced.
- Bianchi and Shuko LMGs recoil reduced.
- Clark Shotgun rate of fire increased.

FEATURES
- Added an autosave to kit customisations. After you customise a kit and spawn in with that kit, the customisation will be automatically saved until you change it and spawn in again. Note that you must spawn in with a particular kit for it to be saved.
- Added a new map, Highway Tampa.

I've not played 2142 for ages, but I installed the patch anyway because I like to keep my games up to date - you never know when you're going to need them

Anyhow, has the v1.40 patch (highway tampa map) introduced a new game mode ? Now, once all the "general" bases are under my teams' control, the enemy main base becomes "unlocked" and is open to attack and capture. It even shows a little padlock on the minimap to reflect the "status" of the base.

Now I know I'm getting on a bit and my memory isn't what it used to be, but I think I'd remember this if I'd seen it before. Having said that, I've not played in ages. So is this a new style of play, or has my memory finally packed in ?

I think the game is called UT2004 and the game mode is called "Onslaught".

I could be wrong.

technicall not a new mode for 2142 as Assault lines (the mode ur on about) was first introduced in he Northern Strike expansion, this is just the first map to be avaliable to all in this mode.
