well after quiet some time I finally got to kill something. Not as good as Dungeon Siege, but I guess time will tell on overall quality.

Back to the game :D

There's a 200 page manual! ekk. With DS it was install and go. This is too complicated for the likes of me. Back to Game for a refund me tinks :D

Shock !!! , a manual with a game !!!.. Nooo take it back you've obviously purchased something else. Manuals never come with games anymore, they are included on the CD in PDF format. :p:

most of the manual is teken up with stat tables, spell listings and race/class descriptions, its really not that daunting.

It does help to have an understanding on how the original dice games work but its not essential. If you think NWN was tough to understand, don't even think about trying Buldurs Gate 2!!!

THAC0's, saving rolls, level drains, exp cap's etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc :D

Its just the nature of AD&D games

Tbh, I couldn't agree more. It's little things that bring NWN to a new level.

Things like...... your characters intelligence/charisma score. This dictates how NPCs react to you and what options you get when you speak to them. (Example: A Charater with a low intelligence will generally be greeted by NPCs with contempt and be looked down on. Most of the things he will be allowed to say, will be "erm....." and "I don't know about things like that". On the other hand, a character with a high intelligence and charsima will be greeted in a totally different manner and be allowed to give better worded answers in a conversation where you're trying to get information from an NPC.)

The 200 page manual is basically a cut down version of the 3rd edition D&D players handbook (available in Hard back at all good book shops) To be able to actually play the game, i.e. control your character, interact with NPCs, you only need to read the first 30 pages or so.

Don't even need to read the manual, just play the first missions which are basically a tutorial.

I'm running an NWN server (not cracked cos its Unix) for those of you who want to serve but can't because of bandwidth.

bvark-server.atdot.at (password is bvark). It's a server vault server but I'd consider importing low (< lvl 7) characters.

It's currently running Chapter 2. I may knock up a save game manager so other parties can use their save games on it without interfering with my group's saves.

LMK if you want the DM client password or want somewhere to test your module...

thanks bvark. Is that server listed in the in game browser? and can i import my single player character? (still low level)

It's in the in-game browser if you don't disable passworded sessions, but direct connect to bvark-server.atdot.at works much better (there are literally 000's of servers now!)

Email the character to nwn@atdot.at and I'll put it on. Just once mind, so choose carefully :)

ok thx.

so if i email you my character i wont be able to save it to local to play Singleplayer and then export back to your multiplayer server am i right?

bvark

Yep, each character can get imported to the server only once - you can still use him locally in SP (or MP from your local store), but if you level him up outside the server, an updated copy can't be saved back.

I'll obviously give the char a once over when I import it to make sure it's not got a +7 longsword at level 3 :)

This means anyone playing on the server can be confident folks haven't cheated, essentially.

okey dokey :)

thanks bud! :D

Guess that means my lvl 10 rogue won't be allowed on there then?

:(

I've not got any +7 Longswords, but I do have a pair of Rapiers +1 and a stack of thieves tools +10 ;)

Do you actually need more than one set of thieves tools? I've got one set of +10 and that's it.

A bit later on, once the BFC party has levelled up and we're playing late chapter 2 we'll let in higher level chars :)

TelexStar:

I only buy games made by either Bioware, Black Isle or Blizzard, I also buy engines made by iD.

All other games suck.

Yes, you do need more than one set. Thieves Tools are like potions, once used in an attempt to open something, they are a lost item and disappear from your inventry.

And there was me thinking you'd rtfm. ;)

Let me know when I'll be allowed to join the MP games. I want to collectively own stuff.
