CS 1.4 Problems,

Hi, Does anybody have any of the following problems with CS 1.4

1) When trying to create a LAN server, the game crashes with a white screen?

2) When buying a gun, my knife pops out, and if carying the bomb, upon buying a gun, the bomb pops out.

3) An error message to do with direct sound in consol before a game starts.

4) Unable to connet to game servers across the web more frequently

5) When exiting the game, it hangs and crashes.

6) When using the "done" button to get back to the main menu the system frequently locks up?

7) Favsvrs.dat corrupts so you lose your bookmarked servers EVERY TIME you load the game.

Anyone else get similar problems, or know of any fixs?????????

Yes this is a well known problem that was first documented by CERT in advisory CA-2000-10 dated 05/08/2000.

The problems are caused when the program named as "Half Life" and the program named as "Counter-strike" are run in conjunction on any form of computer system. There is currently no fix for this problem other than running a file checking program known as "FDISK".

Interesting side effects can result from these "bugs". Namely "Lack of Maturity", "No Sense of Logic or Reason" and "FUKIN GEEK".

i always get in opengl mode it only takes up half the screen so i have to exit and comeback in , and if i dont connect to a server i have to go back to the first menu or it wont connect to any other servers

i get that when i create lan servers. It used to crash my system totally. I think i was on 2k at the time, since xp i dont think i've had that prob.

Act. it may have still semi-worked on 2k after a format. I still get the window showing and i have to esc. then back in, but at least the whole pc doesnt crash, nor HL.

2) When buying a gun, my knife pops out, and if carying the bomb, upon buying a gun, the bomb pops out. are you using a buy script of any kind? Often, if you have downloaded them, the writers have made it so that the knife is selected after a 'buy' so you can run faster to secure the map.

3) An error message to do with direct sound in consol before a game starts. This problem is something to do with the in game voice comms. I got this message usually when i was using another voice comm program (as is was already using the full duplex functionality of the card) I suspect its something to do with that - but again, maybe a re-install of the whole game is in order

4) Unable to connet to game servers across the web more frequently use gamespy of HLSW instead of HL's in game browser because its crap

5) When exiting the game, it hangs and crashes. I had this problem as well when i exited the game from the menu. Now i just exit by typing 'exit' in the console - this does'nt crash it anymore and its a far more efficient way to exit anyway imho

6) When using the "done" button to get back to the main menu the system frequently locks up? again, the whole Half Life gui is stupid and does'nt really work - it never has done! Just use the console and config file to alter settings.

7) Favsvrs.dat corrupts so you lose your bookmarked servers EVERY TIME you load the game. never heard of this, but again i use gamespy and HLSW so its not a problem

other than it will keep your room nice and warm in the winter I can't see any reason to buy dual amd's unless you're running a few game servers. you won't see a difference in games. save you money and get a XP chip or better still a P3 :D

I dont use any kind of buy scripts. The game is a standard install of HL 1.8 with the patch to 1.9, and then cs1.3 to cs1. patch.

the only mod I have is one where all t he hostages look like a naked woman RA :-D Much more fun to hear "u wanna take my picture" instead of "c'mon lets go" lol.
