That test is pretty useless. There is no weighting to the questions, and some simple types appeared more often than many complex types.
In addition in my age group, for example, there is an upper limit score available of 136 - which is a bit silly seeing as this is insufficient to measure some of the population (admittedly only around 1.5%) but very annoying.
Also, the typeface used was very non-standard and some of the questions were ambiguous (enough food for 9 people to live 12 days, how long can 3 people live? Well, potentially 12 days if thats how long it takes before the food spoils) - I know it sounds pedantic but you can't have ambiguity in an IQ test like that. There were several questions like that ( I couldn't be arsed to sit through it again to remember them ).
In addition, once I had answered I question, I had to wait 20 or so seconds to go to the next one on most questions - surely it should have let the participant continue if they double click or something.
For the record, I apparently have an IQ of 130 according to the test - don't put too much stock in this test, that's all I'll say.

i agree with you there afty, the test is just a rough guess, if you were to do a proper test, then it would be a couple of hours long, with lots of questions.
for the record, i got 133. I'm thinking of doing a proper test to find out what it really is though.

All the online tests are pretty useless. If you really want an accurate measure of your IQ, join MENSA (www.mensa.org.uk) and pay a small amount to have an independently validated test.
I did this when I was a kid and scored about 146 - I'm pretty sure my IQ hasn't increased since then (as I spent a few years as a waster, and your brain, just like muscles, can dwindle when not being used) yet most online IQ tests put me in the 150+ bracket, with a few in the 160+ bracket, which is quite simply ********.
Maybe I should take my own advice and this here test to MENSA that I've had for 2 months and can't be arsed to seal and post :)

Afty's right here, the time for each question is way too long. When I did my admission tests for the Navy, the limits were 5 mins for 30 questions, and you could never do more than 25 questions. It was designed to test your reasoning abilities in a pressurised environment.
Bad 5 hours that was!!

hmmm 131 I thought I did really badly but it looks like that's about average.....
While the tests were pretty crap, they were pretty crap for everyone, which means their statistics for the nation, when broken down should be in proportion, if not numerically accurate.
Interesting on some of the graphs to see the most intelligent areas seem to be the M4 corridor, with quite an area to the North and South (about a county or so) and Cheshire.
Urban areas tended to be slightly more intelligent than rural ones, and if you looked carefully at London you could see a correlation between wealth and IQ.
In the centre (the city) with ultra high rent etc. there was a strong group of high IQ participants, then outside that (dodgy areas, 'slums', etc.) was a ring of blue, very low intelligence areas, and then finally you get out to the burbs, and the surrounding home counties, where the average IQ leaps up again.
Also, Silk75 : check your forum priv messages or email re : beer sometime - I had some problems with my mobile and lost all my numbers off the sim so cannae text/ring you - get in touch mate.

Bad 5 hours that was!! My brother took the entry exams for the Navy in March. he did the 30 questions in 5 mins and managed to do pretty well from all accounts. Out of about 15 candidates, he was one of the top two or three. His medical/physical is all that stopped him getting entry at that point. He was still recovering from Glandular Fever and was 7lbs overweight. He was told to come back for reassessment in 6 weeks. He lost the weight and I need to find out how he did at the reassessment.
It seems to be a family thing as well. My little sister is in the Air Cadets and wants to join the RAF as soon as she finishes up her GCSE's next year. I'm glad that both my little brother and sister have something they want to do for themselves. There was no pressure from my folks, they made the choices for themselves.
