Righty ho,,,

Me and BGH need a project to occupy ourselves. So we've decided to make something elite for the web. We sort of settled on a game, but thats as far as we got, cos we both lack imagination.

So... basically we need you to come up with some ideas. if they're decent, we'll give it a go :)

So post away, with some decent ideas!

Space War, with the abiltiy to play someone else over the web.

Like http://agents.www.media.mit.edu/groups/el/projects/spacewar/ but that one is strictly local users only, perhaps make one with more than 2 players? Multiple stars?

Browser-based 'War on Terrorism' game? Topical and just maybe the gaming industry will get some positive recognition for a change. ;)

how about a pic of Jay, and u have to see how many times u can stroke him in a minute?

I think the idea would be some sort of tick based strat game. I would opt for something not serious, for example something like "Curry house tycoon" - "see who can dominate the curry market in your area"

ok ****e idea but what the hey :)

How about "Wizzo Basher 101"? Where you have to collect as many QWers together and give them inflatable hammers, and see if you can hammer Wizzo into the gound in the fastest time?

dc0de : depends what platform you're doing it on.

You and BGH may wish to sit down and have a serious chat with me regarding KaoX at the next LAN we attend, I have that and potentially other projects (wish I had your problem of too much free time) - however I am looking to implement them on a .NET architecture (because it's the bomb, baby) and not some GayBSD clone.

Whatever, we should talk. DreamLAN in 1 week, StratLAN in 2.

KaoX,
FurY Racer (for the old spectrum fans out there),
MPUK CCG - The 2nd generation

Obviously, I don't want to go posting too much on these here forums.

Forgot to mention, the reason I'm veering away from a total ownership/control on these projects is because Im looking to switch jobs soon, so may have even less free time for coding.

hehe I'm averaging an hours free time a nite atm, with virtually zero time at weekends, but I'm using it inefficiently, I have stuff I need to learn and that requires a proper project to work on :)

Will defo be at both dl and sl will talk there

If you want to make a game take a lesson from Valve:

1) License a game engine at least 3 years out of date.
2) Modify said engine to add "dynamic lights". Note: It doesn't matter if the game now renders what looks like bat turd as long as it has dynamic lights.
3) Pay some bum on a park bench to make up a story featuring "exotic" characters and locations. For example: A fat security guard, a thin security guard, a man with a beard and a grey concrete tunnel, a brown concrete tunnel, a large concrete room.
4) Choose your offensive weapons carefully. Forget Sniper rifles as every game uses them these days. Instead use some sort of alien weapons that fire dung bettles or something similar. Ensure these weapons are just found lying around and that your character can instantly use this "Hi-Tech Alien Weaponary" despite never seeing or using it before.
5) Include a multiplayer mode which is so boring it makes your internal organs want to crawl up your windpipe and out of your mouth.
6) Release game on the unsuspecting public. Ensure you carefully brush up the "in-game" screenshots on the back of the box with a Silicon Graphics workstation.
7) Buy the license to a really bad modification for the original licensed game engine. "Re-make" the modification for your game. Change the logo and add a dung bettle firing gun.
8) Re-release game including the new modification. Add a word to the end of your games original title to make people think they are getting some new.
9) Repeat step 8 at least 4 times a year until hell freezes over making sure to NEVER make any substantial changes to the original game.
10) Sit back and rake in the cash.

Patch : did you write that? Tis superb. I would have been proud of that one.

If so can we put it in the reviews section on the website? :p

me, sarcastic?
Surely you must have me confused with someone else....

Oh and web game - "brothel online".

You have a number of whores whose services you rent out.
You have overpriced booze and occasionally you get into fights with other pimps (other players) who steal your whores and booze.
You can create more brothels by buying houses and "doing them down" (rather than up, its a joke, admittadly very dry).

If you **** it up, you win (another joke, similar level of moistness).

Yeah I used to play Pimpwar when I worked at Games Inferno - it was an original theme, but the game was ultra-simplistic.

Bit of a let down. I'll have to check and see if it's improved...
