"Guided rats controlled through implants in their brains could one day be used to search for landmines or buried victims of earthquakes, scientists say."
Err or other more sinister purposes. Seriously speaking though, it is an issue of morality here.
On a good point, research here could prove useful for human augumentations in the future.
The bad point is that lab rats are going to get blown up as they patter around probing for land mines. Or what is the success rate of implants? Perhaps they kill 50 out of every 55 doing it?

no no no, you see.. "Our animals were completely happy and treated well and in no sense was there any cruelty involved,"
obviously this means that rats don't mind being blown to pieces! perhaps they get a "feeling of well-being"?

Thats like putting a disclaimer:-
"Racoon shooting - No racoons were harmed whilst shooting them."
I'm against this personally.
(no racoons were shot or harmed in this post)

do u think they use rats because people generally don't like rats? I mean i'm sure this wouldn't go down as well if they used cute little mice would it?

I think you've hit the nail on the head there mate, there would be lots of objections if they were using rabits or something but in general people dont like rats

LOL something I entirely agree with!!!
I was brought up to eat mud, get in a mess and eat crisps off the floor. I havent been ill for about 15 years! (apart from the odd cold here and there) :) Neither have I seen a doctor nor had to (apart from for medicals etc) ;)

I used to recoup the time I didn't spend ill by going to lans ;)
gotta go see a doctor today for the first time in years, the joy of moving house and having to register with a new surgery :(
