View Full Version : Cable router as DHCP

With my LAN expanding, something I was going to do was have a DHCP set up instead of the hassle of assigning ip addresses.
But I use a cable router that has a 4 port 10/100 switch in it at home that also has DHCP that supports upto 255 PCs (and cause its a linksys it looks nice too :D ).

All seems absolutely sweet :D

BUT, I just want to check to see if anyone has had any problems with such a set up. Anyone???

Coz, I sure I don't want fifty folks deciding on any ip they want when the DHCP does not work.

Should be fine, just make sure that if you forward any ports from a server (such as a web server etc) to the outside world, then they need a static IP internally!

Not a problem, there won't be anything above the router. It will only be there as a DHCP as there will be no web connection
