Right I have a laptop with a TV out on it, connected to my desktop via firewire (400 Mbps).

Can I output a game say renegade onto my TV played on the desktop, going through the Laptop??

And if you're pretty smart, you could use the Firewire to output your DV stream to a digital video recorder.

Oops sorry, I'm thinking of my mate with a pro video editting suite. :D

think about it. Your firewire might be capable of 400mbit which, yes is 4x faster than the LAN, but still slower than your AGP bus. I'm sure Kermit will correct me here, but I think it's 533mbit at AGPx2.

Most 3D cards come with TV-out nowadays. Use that.

<Radeon sales bit>
With the Radeon 8500 you can have 2 monitors and a TV outputing your games, etc. oh, and it's a wicked card.
</end sales bit>

:D

the hardwares not capable of it, as you cant stream the source video card's framebuffer out at real time... Everything else would work, assuming theres software, which I dont think there is :p:

We once thought about trying to get this to work but as we found out you also can get the second screen in twin view to show 3D games which would be good :)

Okay i'll just film from my DV camcorder and output straight onto the TV. :-)

As for tv out, the video card does have it but seems to be only svideo and my tv doesn't support it.

So buy an adaptor!

I got myself a very handy phono/s-video to SCART adaptor from Tandy for about a fiver.

Now all I need is an s-video lead that will fit the TV out of my laptop. Is it just me, or do the pins in an s-video port seem to change with each device?

Cyber, I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D.

/me points to his fist.
/me watches as said fist make contact with Cabe's amply fleshed face. :p:

Yes, the manual might tell me where I can get the appropriate cable or whatever, it still doesn't change the observation that the port differs from every other s-video port on all the other devices I have.

the word your looking for is Proprietary.

but i dont see how this can be as s-video is a cable standard, it must just be a mini-din plug that happens to look like s-video.

for standard info.
