Well I and some friends were 'lucky' enough to get a early version on v2.0 to play two weeks back, I must say it's 'SWEET'. The graphics are sharper, game is a bit slower (actually makes it better imo) but the recoil is hellish to get use too.

You will all love it:p:

N.B. IMO They have ****ed up Caen, but some people like it.

Yes indeed. It's well worth it.

Some of you will no doubt not like it because it will be 'too hard'... But this is realism at it's best... Better than CS? Oh YES! :)

I agree its very realistic but thats just what a game like this need s to be like the beech landing one is very well made and the timelimit for the allies makes them attack rather than sit back and snipe allday although removing the sniper rifles from allies may have made it even more interesting but maybe a bit to unfair.

The new machine Gun's are just what it needed as this add's a bit more varitey and once one of these things is in a good spot its tough to dig out but thats half the fun :)

Hmm also its a nice change to dam CS which i play Less and less each day.

DoD is the only mod I play now for Half-Life. If it wasn't for DoD, Half-Life wouldn't sit on my machine any more.

Mmmm, what everyone seem to be neglecting to say is its 138mb!!!. So if you've got a modem you've got a VERY long wait :(. Dont think i'll bother, just wait til it appears on magazine cover discs, or on the FTP server at I10.

Another example of the great broadband divide in this country

anyone know how to stop Getright crashing when it tries to redial?? if it wasnt for that, I would have it by now!!! over 56k as well

also, are there any better download resumers available than Getright??

KBB
8th February 2002, 16:03
RK, reinstall it if its crashing.

Jarmin, new guns, maps, introduction of recoil, and the odd change to maps and then way u play. Also the game seems to be more team based, which is kinda cool, i will sit down have have a good play with it tonight :D

The entire concept of the game has been changed. Everything, absolutely everything. The only thing the same is the setting :) (WW2 for you n00bs)

LordPhil
9th February 2002, 09:21
Well if anyone wants a copy, just mail me, and I might be able to send you a wubley copy of DOD2. I must say though it is better than the leaked beta of beta 2.0. Alot smoother! Overall the chages are all for the positive, I haven't found one thing wrong with it yet. The new levels, revamped and new weapons and speed are all very nice.

I can't wait until the new offical map pack (all the older level seg3 etc. revamped):D

Big Bopper

ShadowMan

So that would be then wouldnt it then Bopper!

220k/sec download for 138Mb. Y pay for a private file planet server when that is the public access speed i can get?

/me praises uni connection :D

I managed to get a constent 90k/s from the file planet public servers. They can balls if i'm paying for the service, i'd rather wait in line.

dod 2 is ok. The maps are good, but there's other things that just need a bit of tweaking.

Where's the hill level :(

Catachan
18th February 2002, 14:17
The old maps will be returning in an official map pack soon. They're changing a few things on the maps for the purpose of DoD 2.0

Dizzie
20th February 2002, 10:25
Thanks Catachan.
The hill level was one of the best. I rememeber playing it for an hour just 1 on 1 with a friend of mine. Both snipers. Great fun.

Caen is good when you've got 10 or so people. I haven't played the new maps much since they were released, but they look good. Just got to learn the best places first :)

ive never been a fan of DOD tbh. i mean, i can play it but i always get owned.

i prefer my CS, its much more of a pro game and has that 'sheen' that DOD lacks....altho i may be talking out of my a rse because i aint seen 2.0 and apparently its been glossed up.

ill get it off the FTP at i10 :D
