Well, we all know games to films are bad. Mario Brothers.... Tomb Raider... Mortal Kombat.... Street Fighter...... the list is unfortunetaly longer.
Well after finding this trailer for a film based on Resident Evil (Here at 20MB (http://www.fileplanet.com/index.asp?section=1360&file=84151)) i decied to down loaded it to see if it might look good, since the Resident Evil series of games had a good plot.
...................
Well i laughed, a lot, loud, for a long time. I'll let you find out why.

To be honest, I thought Final Fantasy was very good.
And from what I've seen of Resident Evil, I think it will be good too.

Yea the FF was ok, but they should have made it a mini series of films... they tried to put too much into it (story wise) and didnt explain enough of some things in it well enough. Kick ass graphics though :D
Catachan, did u watch that Resident Evil Trailer???? it makes it look cheesy, cliche ridden, and (by the looks of this) dumbs everything down into an action flick (which at heart is not what Resident Evil is about), i want horror god damnit!
I guess it will b ok for a 'turn your brain off and watch the effects' film. Ah well, i'll probaly wait untill it goes to video b4 watching it.

The thing with FF movie was the creators made the mistake they alsomade with FF8, trying to create a literary masterpeice using hidden meanings and complexities. Bad idea since the majority of viewers are there to see the awseome CGI , the cloud look alikes, and the animated hair!!
Yeah it was wa good film, it was saved by the action.
Mortal combat was a quality film!
And Resident evil, well it WOULD have been good, origianlly Geroge romero was the director. But he got peeved at the amateurish actors and stormed out! now they have some amatuer guy doing it! (If i remember correct this was all years ago). So expect it to be of a similar quality to making a home movie (with better special effects).

Mortal Kombat was an excellent film.
Not a film to rush to the cinema to see but definately to own of VHS or DVD!
Best "game film" I've seen is City Hunter with the Street Fighter part in the middle and Jackie Chan dressing up as Chung Lei and E Honda.

The problem is that a game's story isn't made for films. And vice versa.
Look at The Lord of The Rings... They changed loads to make it fit. If the film was like the book, I know I'd be bored very quickly.
Same thing goes with Resident Evil. Give the people what they want to see. It's a horror/action movie, right? OK, so horror (in a film sense, I know the game was better) and action...
Simple.

I hope it's like Dawn Of The Dead cos it's the only way I'm gonna bother seeing it.
They are doing a Crazy Taxi film as well. Hope they don't use the games story line for the film cos it'll be 5 minutes long if they do :)

I agree with Catachan the FF film was fu**in' excellent and the Res. Evil one looks just as good if not better plus it has Milla Jovovich in it.
