Having just played UT for an hour on someone elses system (P3-550, 256Mb, OC'ed Voodoo 3 3000 AGP), i realise that it STILL totally 0wns my system (1.4gig athlon, 1/2 gig ddr, gf2 ultra) for quality.

I cant believe it!?!?!? Its less jerky, has better colours, is more responsive and generally clearer!!!

Speaking of voodoos. anyone know where i can get a cheap voodoo 5500 agp from? also, how much would they cost? im torn between one of them or a geforce 3 ti200:confused:

Voodoos where always quite good with Unreal and UT, but it all comes down to how you have tuned you PC and os..

if you have filled your HD with loads of Norton crap, then thats what i`d expect..


But i`d have expected more from you kermy if you had any **** like that on you machine... so i dunno what to say, except..

Depends on so many factors its silly, at the end of the day you can never really compare them properly. You still got your GF2 Ulta kermit? /me wonders why thats slow...

/me is very pleased with aria, as they're upgrading the GF2MX std to Abit Gf2MX 400 with 64 megs of ram. And i'll swap it with the customer and they'll never know the difference MAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :D

The main reason for that is that UT supported running in native GLIDE mode so was in effect optomised for voodoo cards. Whereas others will run in OGL or DirectX which use software layers to a greater extent (esp DirectX)
Depends on OS and tweaked settings as well.

Well I still got GF2 Ultra in my box (clocked at 295/510 no less ... 0wnage) and it clocks 100fps solid in UT OpenGL at 1152x864. The problem is that it still looks ****e compared to glide rendering at 50fps.

WK: the other box was a friend's linux box. No Norton crap needed ;)

Kermit, i know what you mean. I used to have a 350mhz PII with a VooDoo 3 3000 and UT absolulty rocked on it! like you say Glide was so good compared to DX its a real shame it was only supported by the VooDoo chipset :(

In a similar fashion, i sold my old above machine to my sister in law when i got a new (at the time) 700Mhz Athlon with GeForce 2 GTS 32mb and when it came to playing deus ex (another Unreal engine game) it ran better on hers than it did on mine!!!! Its a joke! MS sux!! Bill u ponce!! are u hearing me? SORT IT OUT!!!!!!
