Do those of us who've booked hostel places get free transfers as well? Looks like the same distance!

Nope, not the same distance at all. The hostel is about the same walk as the Racecourse entrance (the one with the security lodge) to the Berkshire stand doors at a rough guesstimate.

Question.... why only 40 spaces.... and why only on Friday for Paintballing :(

I much prefer Paintballing to Airsoft.

perhaps they only have 40 guns

Then they'd surely run 3 sessions? Fri, Sat, Sun? :P

Bah. I really wish my (albeit ancient) Speed 05 still worked for this.

Oh, and if you don't have SupAir/inflatable fields, I WILL END YOU.

Because friday is for paintball and saturday sunday is for airsoft. They cant really use the same field for the same thing. :)

Its surely possible.

You could run Paintballing morning and then Airsoft afternoon.

But meh i wont complain, just a bit silly to stage paintballing on at the same time that CSS Group matches would start :P

Places do run them on the same site but keep the two separate on the fileds.

They both require strict safety rules.

Paintball regs demand full face and ear coverage that can withstand a point blank range 600fps shot, twice the maximum paintball velocity allowed by UK law.

Airsoft, rental sites, usually supply a face and eye mask, wire mesh styled lense, with no ear protection. These would not hold up to paintball safety standards.

Plus did you know that airsoft gats are not meant to be fired at people.... they are made for target shooting only. Hence only 'safety goggles' are needed in case of ricochets .

Anyway, they are both good fun to play. If you ever get the chance play in an underground bunker complex, a real experience, though no one bring flash bangs to the party

Have you ever been shot by a legal airsoft gun? It hurts.. at close quarters it hurts even more, I've seen a BB embedded in someones lip it wasn't pretty

it stings, a bit, for a few seconds. ive been hosed, shot with a 400fps rifle (in the face) and moscarted. its not like your gonna be rolling round on the floor in agony after a shot.

paintballs hurt more, the overall size and weight of the pellet carrys more energy than a BB.

what are the FPS limits? presume we cant bring our own stuff?

328fps for full auto AEG and up to 550fps for single shot toys. These are the UK limits which are lower than those in Europe and most of the world.

The UK law works out the limits through cumulative foot pound limit. Anything over 1J is classed as firearm not a toy like AEG's and Paintball markers. Though with both AEGs and Markers been able to shoot up to 15 balls a sec, BPS, they are technically going over the cumulative limit.

So don't be surprised to see the limits reduced, plus further restrictions on airsoft guns. I actually like the colourful guns. Nothing quite like seeing folks running round the woods with florescent green AK's

Also remember how the projectile transfers it's kinetic energy to the body.

A paintball is basically a glorified paracetamol capsule filled with vegetable oil and colouring. They are meant to break to marker the player upon impact. Hence they hit, break and dissipate there energy over a wider area.

BB's of all gauges are solid shot or plastic or metal. Therefore the energy is transferred a lot more efficiently to the body.

That's also why a paintball that hits you and bounces hurts more than one that's breaks.

Sorry mate but I have to call you a lair, if you were hosed in the face with a 400fps gun it would have left major welts and even broke the skin in places too

I believe the limit is up to 1.35J which is why some sites run at 345FPS limits.

But I would also like to know if our own kit can be used? As I would prefer to use my own gun to a rental

99% of sites let you use your own gear if you show your a site member and if they chrono your guns :)

try posting on the airsoft organisers forums. think they are called Stirling airsoft :)
