With the Halo 3 Gametypes, I know WCG will be using the same Game Variant as MLG's but will they be using the exact same Map Variant's for all the maps as well?
As advised in the WCG08 Halo 3 rules (http://wcg.multiplay.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/wcg2008_officialgame_rules_halo_ver_11.pdf):
Game Type : Team Slayer
Map: Construct, Guardian, Narrows, Onslaught, Stockpile, The Pit
This does differ from the MLG game variations (http://www.mlgpro.com/?q=node/160002): Isolation is missing and Onslaught/Stockpile have been added.
Hope this answers your question :)

I understand fully that you'll be using the MLG Game Variant but will you be using the Map Variant as well? There were rumours flying about that you'll be using MLG's Gametype but the Default Map Variant is going to be used for each of the map's? Just want to confirm if this is true or not.

The maplist is as specified in the WCG rules. As the map names aren't prefixed by MLG, we're going with the Default variants.

Problem is, with the maps such as Stockpile and Onslaught, they are NOT default maps. How do you expect to use these maps if your only going to use default map variants? Also, if you have to use the MLG map variants to play on these maps wouldn't it be best to use all the MLG map variants?

Lethal is correct Stockpile and Onslaught arn't default map names they are MLG names given to forged foundry maps, I hope they do use MLG maps tbh it's only right really.

We will get clarification from WCG, as we will of course only be using the maps that will be used at the WCG Grand Final.

Any updates on the whole Map Variant situation?

The MLG maps should be used aswell, just prefix them to WCG TS or whatever. The default maps are horrible. Stockpile isn't even used in MLG. Should really get someone to check the competitive gametypes. MLG have the most competitive gametypes which is why everyone plays their gametypes. Default map starting is terrible with equipment on the map, random weapons such as the hammer and flamethrowers, which are luck based weapons.
use the MLG gametypes.

I doubt complaining will do any good because Multiplay don't set the rules - they're set by the people in charge of WCG on a global scale and they're in stone now. So if I were you, I'd quit trying to get them changed and start practicing on the maps you don't know.
The gametypes themselves are, I believe, essentially the same as MLG TS v5. It's a BR start, shield recharge is at 90% and player speed is at 110% (the last two of which I believe are MLG settings).
