Ok so im in the market for a Monitor for the ps3, Its going to a lot cheaper than buying a proper hdtv. I already have a surround sound setup in my room so it doesn't matter if the pc monitor doesn't have speaker which they usually don't :)!

Just wondering what some of you guys are using? I want a great picture quality without having to spend ridiculous amounts. Its only for the bedroom afterall.
Budget of up to 300 would be good, I dont mind a bit more but just to get an idea really. Fed up of using this cruddy tv.. feel like im losing half the game :(!

Thanks

This is probably your best bet although its quite a bit out of the £300 budget and it supports the full 1080 HD res.

Cannot really go wrong with these specs anyway,

- Resolution: 1920 x 1080
- Contrast Ratio: 50000:1
- Response Time: 5ms
- DVB-T Digital Freeview Tuner
- 4x HDMI

its worth spending that extra £280 in my opinion.

Really cheap option but a nice screen none the less at £280 for 720p/i and 1080i

and dont listen to the people that say "LG are cheap", since they manufactuer the monitors for about every brand name you can think of I consider them one of the best choices to go for.

oh and another question, I have a laptop with a HDMI port so would the ps3 connect straight to it? More than likely not but its worth a shot :)

I dont know because that HDMI port is most likley a output not a input for the laptop monitor.

The only way is to try. Wouldn't know from experience, sorry.

On the other hand; my boyfriend connects his PS3 with a 34" widescreen TV. It's pretty neat actually. I'll get more info later for you.

The HDMI port on your laptop will almost certainly be output only, same as the HDMI port on the PS3.

That said, you can pick up a 24" IIyama Prolite Widescreen TFT E2403WS for £259.95 inc.VAT from Aria. [Linky] (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Displays/Monitors/TFT+24+%2B/24%22+IIyama+Prolite+Widescreen+TFT+E2403WS+?productId=30610)
1920x1200, 300cd/m2, 2000:1 DCR, HDMI input

You can also pick up an LG L246WH for £291.97 from LaptopsDirect.com [Linky] (http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/LG_L246WH_L246WH/version.asp)
1920x1200, 500cd/m2, 2000:1 DCR, HDMI input

Both less than your £300 budget.

If you want a "proper" HDTV then you could consider a 32" Samsung LE32A559. It's Full HD (1080p) and if you got it from Dixons.co.uk then you can reduce it from £584.99 to £526.99 using voucher codes TW13 and AW10. Those codes expire 03/06/08 and I don't get kickbacks, I'm just letting everyone else know about a deal I found.

cheers for that zenith, thats a good saving to using those vouchers.

Will i get the full 1080p if i use a pc monitor like the ones that you have showed? I might go into dixons and have a look to.

Dixons is a web shop now so no store to walk into. I keep track of voucher codes for the main electrical retailers in case I feel like buying something myself. :)

If the monitor is 1920x1200 then it can comfortably show 1920x1080 (Full HD). Most modern monitors have the option to scale the image to fill the display or to not scale the image. If you choose to not scale the image, you should get the black borders top and bottom.

Dell 2408 (http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=uk&l=en&cs=ukdhs1&sku=147262).

This is all you will ever need. SRSLY. Or get a 2407 to save some cash.

Honestly if your console gaming/tv episode/movies get a 16:9 monitor not 16:10, after all what the hell is the point in HD when you actually scale the image so that you can tell its streched.

but for pc gaming definatly 16:10

if you get the 2408 make sure you get A01 revision

A00 has some known major issues.
