flights: www.kayak.co.uk
trains: www.sj.se
event: www.dreamhack.se
As some of us missed Summer2008 I suspect a strong contingent.
i so wanna go to this, i need further info on costs etc..
Reason being i need enough money for Vegas so i need to budget some money for both!

Seems £300.70 from LHR to CPH is the price for Club Europe. 09:40 depart LHR, 19:55 depart CPH. SJ prices won't be available for a while. I'd be tempted to not go first on the trains this time round, Lisa and Murray didn't have a bad experience. Bear in mind the i35 dates aren't finalised yet though, so wait for that before booking ;)

stuff i35 ! I want to enjoy myself in far away lands
I've managed the i-series network from canada before... It'll be fine :p
It shouldn't conflict with i35.. likely dates for that are early nov :)
Time to get the contingent together, I am expecting DH Winter 08 to be "epic" :p

Would be interested to see just how much longer it would take. Still, it makes the trip there and back a bit more of an event than just sitting on a plane / train.

I'd like to go but i'm not sure I can either afford the time or the money.
Will have to book it later if I do but I cant see me being able to afford this and a certain trip to "Sin City" in January

Apparently the 'Value Codes' are already available for this, and if we buy these before 1 August we get priority seating. Any news on these 'details'?

This is true these value codes need to be bought LATEST tomorrow for those that wish to confirm their attendance at Dreamhack Winter 08
"New routines for booking of seats – Buy your code now!
When thousands of persons simultaneously try to book Seats for DreamHack’s popular events, it is usually hard to get thru to our booking site. This has also made it difficult to make payments from time to time. Now, we are changing the routines!
Value Codes for DreamHack Winter 2008 (Nov 27-30) all already now for sale at our booking site: bokning.dreamhack.se. You can now, in peace and quiet, secure a Seat for DHW08! Seat Reservation opens as usual at the end of the summer. If you buy a Value Code before August 1 will also get access to the Seat Reservation before everybody else! Nothing to hesitate about - buy your Code now!
Table Seats for DreamHack Arctic II 2008, held September 26-28 September, is already available for booking! Buy your Code today and choose your Seat at once!
The Damage is 790SEK+30SEK = just shy of £70 per person.
I have purchased Wizzo's and My own seat... I suggest those of you committed buy up to ensure pre-seating love.
Seat booking will open 2008-08-25, at 12:00 for value code holders

I'm booked too.
Since the website isn't fully translated (you can see some english by clicking the Union Jack flag on the top right), here's some handy instructions on what to do to pay by Credit Card.
1) Create an account - easy enough, there's a link in the top nav bar.
Put your clan as MPUK and make sure you tick the "I want to join 'Svenska Spelföreningen'" box - its what the cool kids are doing.
2) Go to your email and click on the activation link for your new account.
3) Log-in on the website
4) Click on 'Web Shop'
5) Enter number of codes you want to buy (most likely 1), tick the 'DreamHack Winter 2008' option that costs 790SEK+30SEK booking. Proceed to online card payment.
6) The PayNova form is in swedish and looks scary.
Choose 'Kreditkort' (credit card) and click 'Fortsatt' (forwards)
7) Choose card type (Valj kort)
Kortinnehavarens namn is Cardholder name
Kortnummer is credit card number
Giltigt till is expiry date (month/year)
CVV is your 3 digit number on the back as usual
8) There will be a confirmation box to check at some point. Check it to agree to being billed
If you see a page that says "Betalningen ar godkand" - that means payment successful. Good job :D
Now in your account under 'My value codes and seats' you should see that you can pick a seat. This opens on 25th August.

I'll update with more info as/when I find it.

i prebooked using company hax to bring the cost into 'okay-ish' and not the current oMFG price :)
I wonder if Dreamhack will buy up all the slack and then sell... lord only knows the money grabbing gits might add a good %%markup for the lolz :)

GJ Bugs. I was also looking at flights and trains this evening. I may take Team XW via Gatwick (£66 flight to ARL), or possibly via Gothenburg since the trains seem to be £lol cheaper.
Details to follow.
Still no news from DH about discounted scandic bookings, have emailled them again.

Indeed - though they pile on the extras. You want luggage? Extra £24. Paying with a credit card? Extra x%, etc.
Still good value though.

ahhh yes i got it to £lol soon enough. BUT.. 1 laptop, underwhere.. whore freebies t-shirts at event.. hotel provides towls and shiz. Must be possible to do a proper minimal packing effort.

You could always 'do an NJ' and just wear all your clothes at once? Unfortunately this also means wearing all your dirty clothes on return too... Unless you just wear free t shirts there and bin/donate to charity instead of bringing home ?
Bootz
4th September 2008, 10:06
and be careful if you add baggage, with Ryanair your baggage weight is still limited to 15kg even if you add more bags.
If you go over that they charge you £12 per kilo...
SBB
4th September 2008, 14:26
15kg is more than enough for just your clothes etc, take your laptop on as carry on luggage like i msure you would be doing anyway and its all fine!
