Ok, as the title says, i get internet connection loss which seems to happen every 5-10 minutes at the most inconvinient times such as starting up a Multiplayer game and such.

My computer is connected to my Router via an Ethernet cable while my brother is connected to it via wireless both for his computer and his xbox 360 (more like failbox 360 amirite?).

At first i thought it was my brothers virus-infested computer which caused it so i blocked all wireless access so he goes and uses next-doors router (or atleast i think he does).
Yet it still persists and won't give up.
Now i don't know if it's a problem with my router, my Internet provider or someone somewhere is screwing with it somehow.

Any help?:killself:

Phone ya ISP, ask them.

If they say nothings wrong, could be your router.

Virgin or Multiplay DSL.

If you can get virgin 20mbit, i would recommend it.

For gaming - MultiplayDSL (http://www.multiplaydsl.co.uk)

For speed / price balance - Virgin (http://www.virginmedia.com) Cable if it's in your area
For high-speed ADSL with high limits - BeThere (http://www.bethere.co.uk) if it's in your area
For good quality BT Wholesale provided ADSL - One (http://www.adsl24.co.uk) (any) of the entanet resellers
If you have Sky TV already and you're in a Sky LLU area - Sky is a reasonable service for very little money as well.

:)

NOT Tiscali (inc. Pipex), TalkTalk, BT Retail, Orange.

Not really had any problems with Pipex so far, I just wouldn't recommend them in general.

Oh, and NOT AOL.

Been migrated to Tiscali LLU yet then? :p:

For high-speed ADSL with high limits - [URL="http://www.bethere.co.uk"]

Blasphemy!, be there do have a dreaded "fair use policy" but I go for around 10-25gb a day peak times and nothing not even a hinted letter since september 2006 thank you very much.

and still get 5-15 ping to MPUK servers even though there LLU, so honestly for £18 its the best UK tinternet by far.

even with there £14 a month 8mb and 1.5mb up connections theres still no worry of limits.

I think that assuming that bethere intentionally allow that much traffic per customer would be a mistake. Once they get enough users on-net to not make a massive loss I think you'll start to feel the pinch a lot more.

So enjoy it while it lasts. :)

Narella - Lucky you! Your experience seems less than typical from what I read. :)

Ive always understood the service as that and though I would only get 6 months of heaven but there still going strong, but I expect this kind of service to go the way of the dodo very soon.

GeeDee, I will forever hate your for making me say this, I'm not sure how, but one day I will strike you down.

Ez64 is right (shudders) BeThere are actually awesome. The fact that their service is advertised as having unlimited use sort of implies that this may be more of a long term thing rather then the aforementioned 'keep customers sweet till we have enough of em to sweat' shenanigan.

Now if I'm ever forced to agree with Ez again I will kill your family.

You know you love it, come to the darkside. :D:

You do realise I listed bethere as one of my prefered options? :p:

However - if nothing else, the history of broadband in this country has shown that everyone who used to advertise unlimited services a few years ago has now either a: Stopped doing so and introducted hard limits or a FUP or b: Ended up with terrible network congestion issues.

There's no such thing as unlimited and ISPs who advertise as such are really not helping joe-public make an informed decision at all.

Do you seriously think that bethere would continue to invest in really expensive backhaul rather than actually make back the millions they've invested in LLU rollout? :)
