Maybe taxing issues as well if it was in GBP?

Which sounds more?
€10,000 or £7,920.89

Also a number of European clans and players are coming to the UK to play in these tournaments so it makes sense to quote the prize in Euros.

Isn't it something like, the sponsorship money is pledged by the sponsors in Euros yet the players actually get paid in £ ?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, multiplay we want to have a REFERENDUM on our prizes being given in the single currency. We do not accept the EU treaty with the prizegivers you snuck under our noses.

That was the explaination for the $10,000 Quake4 prize so yeh probably is the case.

you can choose to be paid in euros or pounds if you win a cash prize

All prizes as payed out in pounds with the conversion done at the time. We have moved to quoting a number of tournaments in Euros as Zenith said due to the number of European clans entering the tournaments.

you painted that right?

I'm willing to bet that there are more ENGLISH teams entering than European ones..

I'm sure the reason isn't wholly related to 'pandering' to Euroclans, more that MPUK wants to be seen as an international company now, and so advertising in Euros makes sense to them?

If it is just pandering then we're all doomed...

you beat me too it :p, i'll take that bet too. Im sure the europeans can manage a little conversion just as well as we can, MPUK must think us Brits are better at our math :D:

if we have to convert the euros into pounds... why should it be a hassle for Europeans to euros into pounds?

Big Giant Head

I would suspect it's more due to the sponsoring companies offering the prize money in Euros, therefore if MPUK put the equivelant pounds value up and the exchange rate shifted then they would be out of pocket.

Or maybe I'm just reading far too much into it and its pointless :)
