i infact have 2 PS3's one is in my living room used ONLY for the blue ray which is the only thing worth having a PS3 for. (the games are ****, **** graphics and **** gameplay.

the other however is in the atic because no one wants to play it. i live with four other members of my family, so this must meen that the game on it are quite poor.

Graphics are nothing special
1 million and 1 games with no quality
Its a george forman i.e not stackable
Poor for FPS and Driving games due to a tosh controller
Expensive
Blueray? lol like anyone is going to replace there dvd collection.
Online capabilities suck
Its SOE so support will die and you will get what they want you to have
3rd place in the console wars
A failed wii like control element.

Good graphics
High quality award winning games with proper competitive support
Award winning online and lan capabilities
Cheap (real cheap)
Reliable and for those old consoles extended warranty and great customer repair service
Good dvd player
Microsoft deep supporting pockets
Great controller for both fps and driving games
Intuative windows like messageing and gui controls.

My opinions are based on experience. Every saturday night (near enough) i go to my friends and we have a mini console lan his ps3 seldom gets used due to all of the above.

Yes lets look at EQ, SOE have ruined all the other MMO its owned/run in order to sink money into this game yet it is still failing. Its no WOW is it.

having played on both the 360 and the ps3, and at the same time owning a pretty nice PC, i can do nothing but laught at you all.

PS3 = Good value console if you want a blue ray player aswell, whilst the online might be lacking at the moment, it's free so you cant really complain, the "home" feature does look interesting tho. Visualy its the SAME as the xbox 360, but eventualy it should end up looking nicer due to the hardware that it has, well as soon as they figure out how to use the cell anyway. The ps3 is lacking in games at the moment, but this is due to change.

Xbox 360 = Live is great, it has room for improvement, but its what all consols should be aiming for in the online department, it does put some people off with the cost of £40 but if people want to be that tight with their cash, its their choice. Game wise the Xbox 360 has almost as much "shovelware" (read: crap games) as the wii, and eventualy the ps3. Like i said before the games look just as good as the ps3's games.

All it comes down to what games you want to play, do you want cross platform play with windows live (cant see many people wanting this), what consol do your friends have (as online play is all about playing with friends). What exclusive games make your mouth water. Do you want a blue ray player. etc etc.

if you want the best gaming machine around, get a pc, if you want something other than that, something good and fun to play with friends online a bit more casualy, get a console.

Anyway, back to the topic. I don't think consoles are too great at i34 on a whole as they tend to have problems and you can't exactly open it up and fix it.

I'm going to dive in now I'm a PS3 owner.

I chose a PS3 over an X360 because:
PS3 has HDMI output as *standard*, only certain models of X360 have it.
PS3 can output 1080p as standard, it's fiddly on an X360
PS3 plays bluray discs as standard, X360 needs a HDDVD add-on. (btw, bluray won the Format Wars... M$ had better work on getting that bluray drive out).
Most A-grade titles are multi-format so no advantage there.
Online service is free with the PS3, XBL is subscription.

The clincher for me...
You can install Ubuntu Linux on a PS3. You can then configure it to be a mythTV frontend, exactly the way you want it.

I dont think there will be any PS3 tournies at i34. Seeing as the WCG stuff is being done on the 360 unless a HUGELY popular game comes along that will see lots of PS3's come to i34 I cant see Multiplay putting up a tournament.

There is nothing though to stop you hosting your own. If you can get your clan or whatever to come along with their PS3's you will be welcome to plug in and join in.

It's a shame really, people are always going on about one product being better than the other, where in reality there is not much between them. Small differences in identical products you might as well argue which one looks better under your TV. I noticed no-one has brought the wii into this arguement yet?

To be honest, with something so close, It's not what is better, it is what you PREFER. I prefer the xbox360, that didnt stop me playing GT5P at the weekend for several hours around my friend who owns a PS3. Ironically as some of the tracks were the same as Forsa 2 (Xbox 360 only) I couldn't really tell any difference between the games except in minor presentation and different challenges.

I feel the PS3 and XBOX360 are suffering from idenity crisis, the PS3 slightly more. What I mean by this is they do not know what they are... Are they a gaming console? DVD player? Blu-Ray Player? Video-Streaming box? Linux Box? Web Browser? Computer?. This is were the Wii trumps them all, it's a gaming console, end off*.. Nothing else.

As for a Ps3 competition at future lans, I guess that depends on several factors. Decent multiplayer games like GTP 5 is a good start. I was very impressed how seamless the multiplayer experience was on that. :)
