Hi guys, yep you read it right, we're soon to start an all new TF2 league here at Multiplay! We're just thrashing out some minor details and whatnot but this will all be going live very, very soon.

In the meantime feel free to idle in #mpuktf2l to get the latest gossip and news. :)

A League or a Tournament? They are very different.

Secondly, is this going to be aimed at the average public&casual clan player or the top bunch?

Lastly how will the tournament/league differ from what is already on offer by leagues such as the ETF2L bunch?

Everyone, we want as many clans as possible

Ok then, make sure you do your homework on exactly whats already out there and what you can offer to sway people to joining the league/tournament/whatever. I cant see many people wanting to join another "just for fun" league if ETF2L already has that covered with the majority of teams playing in it.

Yus,

The TF2 tourney is not run by all of the online staff :)
We have our own TF2 tourney staff :awesome:

Aye, as liv3d said, the tourney side won't be adminned by public admins (unless they have the required knowledge / thick skin / bombproof shelter) to handle it. :)

Is there an opening in this for people who want to play but dont want the regular commitment of a clan?

Hmm, interesting question. Currently there isn't, this tourney will initially be a fun one only for clans that wish to register and play for fun factor only.

There will be no tangible prizes to be won this first time round, it's a status symbol only, winner of the 1st ever MPUK TF2 Tournament.

That said, there's a possibility that future tourney's will have a great prize element and the success of this first tournament will have a huge bearing on what we may / may not have to offer for future competitions.

I am hoping to have the rules posted up within the next day or two and will look forward to registrations for this first tournament.

As for individuals wanting to play clan-style we're looking at pick-ups that seem to be popular with many games and there is much development going on in this respect.

Lets hope we can make a good start with the league I'm sure that with the contacts some of the new league admin's have we will be able to entice the higher and lower skilled clans to join.

The largest TF2 League is currently The ETF2L with 120 clans signed up for its new season. They are out stripping The SGL, ED and ESL and it is run by volenteers who themselves are clan players. I'm sure with the resource and enthusiasm of the Multiplay team we can give it a good go.

Have fun guys. I would like to be involved, but as I have yet to find a clan foolhardy enough to give me a spot (granted, I haven't been out begging or anything) I think I may be forced to watch from the sidelines.

May the force be with you, nonetheless. ;)

We are looking at starting towards the end of May so as not to clash with other leagues that are already running as I know that a lot of clans re playing officials 3/4 nights per week at the moment. And shifty your spot on a lot of irc chats are being had with cl's but spread the word every little helps.
