Can we have dominos pizza this time please. As they do better deals and they are cheaper.
You could try to get a deal with them? Bit cheaper, large pizza same price as a medium....
iirc we had them for quite a few lans and they where **** the current guys have the nicest chicken for sure.

Dominos has been god awful ever since I can remember so roughly I-28 or so, it was getting slowly worse each event.
As a whole dominos is horrible pizza, even the new and 'improved' newbury dominos looks like it should be shut down by the Health agency

Predat0r
28th March 2008, 12:11
Papa Johns is tastier pizza than Dominos. But by GOD, there's so many problems with Papa Johns.
Example one - Dominos ALWAYS had some sort of offer on, and it was good (enormous pizza for £10? Yes please). Papa Johns had ONE offer of half price on everything, once, during i31. After that, the prices have become full price - in fact, their prices hit the exact same ones of the pizza we ordered in ASK (which I will point out, was served to our table in around 10 minutes, piping hot, and delicious) which is an actual italian restaurant. Papa Johns, is not. This meant that not just did the pizza keep turning up cold or lukewarm, but also the the price for this far-too-late-soggy-and-cold-pizza was full price.
However, pizza seemed to be a little warmer this time round. I just wish we could have a smaller price tag on it to keep buying it rather than making it a one shotter - due to the incredibly tight budget, I couldn't really afford them this time around.
Then again, I never had a problem with Domino's. Was this just a 50/50 problem, or was I proclaimed some sort of pizza God to them? We shall never know.

I've had issues with pizzas occasionally at i-series but talking to the staff (Dominos/Papa Johns staff that is) has always resolved it (usually with me getting a new pizza and an apology, which is enough for me).

Personally i havnt had any papa johns pizza at recent i-series and enjoyed it. I liked dominoes alot more and their dips are also ALOT nicer. I mean compare the honey mustard dip between papa johns and dominoes. I think papa johns are just not managing to cope with the number of orders well enough. The pizza has just not been very tasty ive found.

Jello, KY jelly, mud . . . continue ad nauseum.
Ooo, vodka jelly.
Mmmm.
As for the pizza places, I preferred Dominoes, at i27 they kept delivering someones pizza to the wrong desk and no matter how many times this was pointed out, they wouldn't take it away. At least 4 free pizza's!!
Domino's dips are better, too.
Best is Sbarro, but there aren't that many in the UK. :awesome:

There is a Domino's in Warwick but there not great and would be cold on arrival without questions.
There is a Pizza Hut in Leamington Spa which is pretty good but dont deliver, although Im sure they "could".
There is a Snappy's in Leamington, any stratlan goers will have experienced the Stratford version, not great but meh.
Pizza Express is the best by far but also the most expensive by far.
I'll knock up a take-away list nearer the time as theres a world of Indian/Chinese take-aways within a mile or 2 of the event.

Bread rolls and garden weeds for them should suffice.
With regards to the original post I would like to see Domino's at i34, however I never saw them at previous i-lans as it has always been Papa Johns and comparing Papa Johns to the Domino's I'm used to here in Portsmouth it's no contest; Domino's wins hands down. Papa John's doesn't even compare to the skanky turkish kebab outlets we have here when it comes to pizza...

Same here, everyone who thinks Papa John's is good hasn't tried Domino's Extravaganza pizza yet :P I was baffled when I saw the prices for Papa John's Pizza, they get tons of orders and they instead of giving some quantity discount for i33 attendants they overcharge you. I dont think paying 13 pounds for a pizza is anywhere reasonable, even if its (extra) large. Here in NL we pay the same amount, but in euros :P
I do have to say the quality of the pizza was fairly good and fortunately I didn't get any cold pizzas at all.

Dominos restricted people to buying just pizza and the combos to make ordering a lot easier. The volume of pizza was just so great that adding extra side orders etc would complicate things.

Tbh, I work in Domino's and if our store had that amount of pizza being ordered regularly then it would probably crumble, technically, from the time the pizza is ordered it should take 1-2 mins to make it, 6 mins in the over, and out by 10. BUT with 2000 people ordering, that is absolutely insane.

The thing most people seem to forget is that Baggies pretty much served the same sort of food you'd get from other burger vans in some festivals, a lot of fairs, and other outdoor events happening in local areas. The only reason you don't become ill from these is because it's a one-off thing, rather than eating the same crap all weekend. :v

hehe well actually you can get ill from one offs but I get your point :P
Last few lans i've eaten a lot better tbh.
Like maybe 1-2 pizzas the odd burger van if im THAT hungry
but mostly down to tescos get a break fast then buy some food for the day and back to lan.
I personally think a lot of people get ill due to poor hygene.
Wash your hands before and after eating, and use baby wipes on your mouse/keyboard every now and then as they sort of breed more germs :P touch wood ive not been been ill at lan (apart from when I made my self throw up to avoid lan death!)

Sod the pizza, let's all make some cake and enter it in a competition.
A GIANT CAKE.
At least you wouldn't be as ill eating cake rather than pizza.

Can we have dominos pizza this time please. As they do better deals and they are cheaper.
You could try to get a deal with them? Bit cheaper, large pizza same price as a medium....
i think a different pizza place would be in order. I for one am not a fan of eating pizza filled with salt as domino's make them :)

Assuming there are onsite cooking facilities (which it sounds like there are as they're selling food), they may be able to cook pizza on site?
I wonder if they might sell food longer into the night, I guess MPUK will confirm in May.

Personally I didn't have any problems with the vans from I33, whether that was me caring more about quantity rather than quality or being lucky is hard to tell :S
I'll eat anything really, although an on-site supermarket would be handy, seeing as I am lacking in the car department :(
I also eat mint imperials like coco pops, will need to stock up at some point

As long as there is an external option such as Subway, dominos etc etc.
Fully inhouse would suck.

Fully inhouse would suck.
If there's a decent range at reasonable prices and reasonable opening hours I see no reason to bring in offsite catering (aside from the Hog Roast). I'm sure if people want pizza you could find a number for a local company and get them to deliver to Stoneleigh ;)
We'll probably find somewhere to eat offsite for 1 or 2 days, but in general professional on-site catering is usually pretty good.

Never ever does inhouse anywhere match chains such as subway dominos etc etc.
Inhouse would suck to dimensions never seen b4.
Get subway, dominos etc etc in.

Pardon? Do you only survive off chain restaurants?
Given who Stoneleigh have to cater for, I suspect that their food is reasonably decent, I presume that they also cater for crowds as large as, or larger than 2000 people.
The food at our work is 100 times better (and better for you) than some of these chain restaurants, maybe you should just hop in your car to McDs for your fix ;)

just say no to dominoes. Pizza hut is arguably the best. Regardless of company a discount is a MUST.

You actually cannot make that statement without having tasted their food. It's lush. I like Subway and Dominos too but the inhouse catering is better. Take it from someone who's actually tried it.

Im sure the inhouse food is probably very nice! and to go eat in a proper canteen would be a great way to get away from your PC! But i do and have allways enjoyed the pizza to your desk deal :) regardless of company :)

I know several people that have got food poisoning from Subway. I personally wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. That, and it just looks processed. But each to his own.

I had subways 2 meals a day, every single day for about 2 months at one point but never suffered anything. Although having said that, it does get disgusting after a while...
I prefer dominos to pizzahut. The DIPS make all the difference...

Only ever been ill after a subway once and that was in Hong Kong, bought around 5am, just off Bathroom street.
Of course, I suspect the drinking for 18 hours or so previously may have had more to do with it than the sandwich . . .
