Went to book up i34 out of curosity... as I can't afford anyway.. but wanted to check price.
Now just the normal stay + eas + my long term discount it was £79 quid, I was over joyed.... good pricing still.
I then thought I try book a room, but only option was HOSTEL 2 beds...... I presume the hotel is fully booked already?
I continued to check out to be billed for £219!!
I serisouly lost my breath.
That much extra just to stay in a hostel? blimey!
So my main question is.... Does this normal £80 Package inc tent staying.. as thats surely what all I be able to afford for my next i event.

Note that it is a twin room too... so get someone in there to share the cost with you :)

It is a twin room in the hostel, i.e. for you + 1. We'll be making this clearer on the site tomorrow.

Will the hostel rooms that fit two be able to fit more?
If there are 4 going, would we be allowed to have two in sleeping bags on the floor (provided they fit... or is it strictly 2 to a room?

I don’t think officially because of it being a fire hazard and then being even more unfair if those people used the hostel shared showers.
But I’m sure it will happen to the extent that eastern Europe would call us animals :awesome:

Its a good idea if you have a car i find.

The company that I work for has a section called venue find, if you give them a call they can sort rooms out cheap, due to the buying power they have.
We do massive events so book a lot of hotels and conference rooms.
http://www.zibrant.co.uk if you fancy giving it ago.
NO TRUFF I clearly stated I am from said company and was simple offering the services.

Decided to go for the Hotel this time round, shared a hotel room at i33 cus of the ultra cold weather and quite enjoyed being able to sleep for more than 2 hours without being woken up by some random. Also quite liked eating real food for breakfast and getting a nice shower in. I don't think that £330 is too bad when splitting the cost of the hotel between 2 people, looking forward to not travelling as far too ;)

For health and safety reasons it is strictly two per room. These rooms are quite small (about half the size of a travelodge room) so there is limited space.

TBH £200 odd for i34 + staying in a hostel is a joke no way i can afford that for a weekend lan... il stick to tents :(It's nowhere near "£200-odd" - it's actually £134 (Gold Discount) for me to do the same thing. Not *too* bad, but I'm still narked about the lack of open floorspace to crash.

£17.50 a night for a bed is really not too bad. Bear in mind when you book the service you are booking a twin room, so you then go find someone else to share with you, or pay £35 a night and have the whole room to yourself if you are so inclined :p
So on the early bird scheme it's £64 for the event ticket then 3 nights @ £17.50 a night (if sharing) meaning £116.50 for you to have a bed each night including LAN. Adding EAS takes this up to £149.

Aside from my original troll instincts, i34 is now starting to seem really rather interesting. However, these sleeping arrangements are the only things I have problems with since I was hoping on not needing to bring my tent this time.

Here's an idea of what's being done above.
Imagine you're at point A, and want to get to point B. You have at your disposal monies, and either a bus or a taxi to use. You could walk, but that would be undesirable. It does not matter which you use, but in this situation, the bus in its usual scenario, isn't too nice a form of transport compared to the luxurious interior of the taxi - and the taxi is faster.
However, the bus is free - and you need to eat when you get point B, but that costs precious money, of which the taxi fare is exactly the same amount of money that you have.
I myself, would rather take the bus - it means I can have some nice food on the other end. However, this removes tactic is like removing the free bus and sticking in its place a line of taxis, but I want to eat at point B so I don't starve. Walking for a few miles is the only alternative, and is infinitely undesirable.
In summary: Bus = Red Room, Taxis = hostel or hotel (two forms of posh taxi), Walking = Camping.
Now, since it's the summer I'd rather walk and enjoy the scenic version of travel (camping - it's nice and warm in the summer and I'll be in glastonbury mode) but for a lot of people, they'd prefer the bus. What you're doing is removing the bus and leaving either a taxi, or walking. Yes it's not that much, but people like me always have very tight budgets during lan parties, which means just enough to eat for the weekend.
People like me would not be able to comfortably pay for such accommodation on such budgets - the red room, even if it's just a small area out of the way, would be a welcome addition to keep in the cycle of i-series lan parties.
So on the early bird scheme it's £64 for the event ticket then 3 nights @ £17.50 a night (if sharing) meaning £116.50 for you to have a bed each night including LAN. Adding EAS takes this up to £149.
£65/£80 isn't that much. To a lot of people, £149 will seem like a enormous amount, and it's also more than the price of entry to a music festival which I personally believe would be worth such a price (you'd be suprised to how cheap in comparison most stuff inside Glastonbury is to high-street prices, if you avoid all the buying-random-peices-of-wood-for-£5 stalls - again, if they didn't hold any sort of religious, spiritual, or cultural value to you).
The last few i-series I've been to have been win. Keep the red room, even if makeshift. A lot of people will want this, and will be a step in the direction of keeping interest in buying spectator passes.

Using terms like "a joke" with regard to the pricing of the hotels is... Well, a joke.
Multiplay are offering an extra service at a price - It's amazing that the i-series is keeping the same ticket price as it is. Personally I'm looking forward to staying in a real bed :)

Hopefully since I haven't used the term "a joke" since it's not THAT expensive, that wasn't aimed at me. :v
I was merely commenting about the fact that instead of it being a true extra, it's replaced the red rooms. Replacing something that so many people have depended on in the past is a very bad idea. See my above (possibly tl;dr) example as to why.
It's like upgrading living conditions for refugees and making them pay for it. Well, not quite since that's a very extreme example, but along those sorts of lines. :D:
