i34 CoD4 ?

I know CoD4 is gonna be there for competitions,but why oh why does it have to be bloody "search and destroy" ? It is the most repetitive and boring mode for CoD4..........so ok the franchised clans love cause it, because its so close to CS

We have counter-strike source for that carp mode of play.

Why don't we have a competition for sabotage instead ?

S&D = CS = awfully boring for us non franchised gamers.:mad:

I'm not sure what you mean by franchised. The only franchised players I know of are the CGS players in CSS, FIFA, DOA and PGR. S&D is the definitive competitive mode for CoD4, but there's no reason we couldn't try and get a fun SAB tourney running at i34.

SD is always the gametype at Tournaments, that will never change.

However @ i31 the Excellent Admin Team setup a mini Tournament for CoD2 CTF on the Sunday for those teams that wanted to play. It got a very good reception and ended a superb weekend for the CoD2 Clans.

Just speak to the Admins @ i34 and see what they can do ;) But you will need to gather support for this and it will only be a Sunday Night thing as SD is the tournament gametype.

Yes I do know its the most popular gametype before anyone starts and I am NOT suggesting a change as I actually DO like it.

Saying that the admins at i31 did arrange a off the cuff CTF CoD2 fun tourney which was enjoyed by most (we could hear the screams of some teams around the building). Maybe we could do that again at i34 if there is interest.

For the record, BA has a CTF CoD4 server already running. I would be happy to supply the config to the tourney admins if they are interested.

Obviously that is if IW don't release the patch with the official CTF in it.

SD is still the main gametype, just look at CB and the Activity on the SD ladder compared to DOM / SAB, its vastly superior. I personally prefer DOM but SD is where the majority are and MPUK are not going to change that.

You also have to consider time when attempting to cram in another gametype, thats why the Sunday afternoon / night was a good time and worked well at i31 & the CTF Clans. However you do need a dedicated admin that wishes to spend more of his / her time on the Sunday arranging a Fun Tourney.

.:{-CF-}:. will happily play DOM / SAB as PCW's at i34 manface, so you wont be short of games.

Despite being a ut3 fan, i was hugely impressed by the i33 tournament and the gametype in question (particularly the pam mod). After playing various publics, tdm etc etc i was ready to throw the game away to being a spamfest with a whole variety of lame tactics but obviously this isn't the case for all of it.

I can't see why having the teams play 5v5 tdm or something would be interesting at all. (particuarly from someone 'fairly' new to CoD in general)

i think the main tourny should be SD, but the fun tourny should be CTF/HQ/Sabotage something like that, and maybe we should do what the CSS fun tourny did and put in £5 per team?

I was tempted to ask around about doing a 64 man FFA winner takes all type thing, with maybe a £2 fee, if you do want to sort out a fun tourney then you should think about getting it sorted soon, then you may evan find you can get some prizes donated for the winners.

I would also like to see somthing setup for the teams that did not get through the group stages? kind of like a wooden spoon tourney.

There be some other Fun Cups maybe SAB/ TDM maybe more we will be looking into it for the fun area :) - As for SD it is the main game type and this not be changing

sd requires a certain amout of skill and team play at a higher level not just rampaging around with an smg spraying stuff up, hense why at all large lans sd is played.

In my opinion I think S&D is great for tournaments. The other game modes can become unfair but S&D is always even. For example on headquarters one team might spawn closer to the HQ more often than the other team.

What top teams ? never heard of them.

In my personal opinion, S&D is just counter-strike all tarted up.When you're dead thats it till the end of the round, same game-play mode, very boring.

Sabotage is way more fun and exciting at least you have a proper ending instead of twiddling your thumbs till the round ends.

paul_haines, who says SAB doesn't require skill, I would say it actually requires more skill than - shoot, dead, end of round - ? what higher level is this then, God-like ? LOL.

I like sab, we where top cb for a few weeks, But you aint never gonna get the tourny to run anything but SD

its the main game type played on all major leagues / ladders so there you have it

we'll play sab/dom games at next lan and I did mention to Morg to get a fun sab tourny going @ i33 they just ran outta time cause of the orginal TUP CSS noobs over running.

Got to agree with the folks saying S&D is pants. It's just a rehash of camper strike. If I wanted to run around like a muppet defusing bombs and camping behind a door I'd play that, not a fast moving game like COD4.

COD4 is fast paced by nature. I think there should be a smaller (but probably more players due to the love of other modes) tourny for HQ or something. If not alot of people will go into the tournaments and just play separately I thinks.

Possibly you should consider playing UT/Quake if you love darting about like a maniac, if you say S+d is a rehash of counter strike, then domination is the biggest rehash of pretty much every Battlefield Objective mode.

If you die you basically have to wait a max of 1.5 minutes, this is what makes this game so interesting, it give a tactical edge which is lacked when you know a respawner is just as likely to pop round the corner after you have just mowed down a couple of people.

With a total prize fund of 12,000 euros and plenty of top professional teams attending there aint a chance of the tourny being changed to sab which in my opinion is a pathetic gametype - good for havin a bit fun, but poor for tornyments.
