Im thinking along the lines of having a bloody big sign made that I can hold up in the air to announce a LAN game of something about to start, bit like the one below but much bigger :D:

The intranet server listings used to pick up customer hosted games, as long as the server was "advertised" (server broadcast setting). Is this no longer the case?

It probably does but not many people check it as they expect to find nothing. We hosted a tonne of UT, CoD4 and CoH games but rarely got anyone outside the clan joining them.

The UDP forwarder works.

The fact that most "LAN" games don't advertise beyond your /24 is the issue.

Indeed, the problem with the UDP forwarder now is that developers are patching their server lists. If you're searching for a LAN game and the return from a broadcast request is not in your local subnet it's silently filtered out :(
