How do I get there?

Getting to Stoneleigh Park is very easy and it is well connected, offering a variety of transport methods to and from the event. To see a map detailing the below instructions click here (http://i34.multiplay.co.uk/motorwaymap.pdf).
By Car

You can get to Stoneleigh from either the M6, M6 Toll, M42, M40 or the M1 but you’ll find the easiest route is from either the M40 or M1. If you’re coming from the M40 you’ll want to come off at Stratford/Warwick (Jnct. 15) and head towards Warwick on the A46. If you’re come from the M1 you should come off at Junction 17 and go along the M45 which eventually leads to the A45. Once you are on either the A45 or A46 look for signs for either Stoneleigh Park or the National Agriculture Centre - they are often on white signs and can be missed if you’re not paying attention! Stoneleigh is signposted all the way from here.

:awesome: That doesn't sound very easy?

By Rail/Bus

Coventry or Warwick Parkway are the two closest stations, you’ll need to make an onward journey to Stoneleigh though. There are bus services that run to Stoneleigh, alternatively you could take a taxi. Click here (http://i34.multiplay.co.uk/bus_timetables.pdf) for bus timetables to/from Stoneleigh Park.

:awesome: So you are screwed if you want to come via Rail or Bus then

By Air

Coventry airport is very close by, flights to here are fairly limited however. Birmingham International Airport is better connected but is still a train journey from the venue.

:awesome: So flying really ain't an option either

Sorry, but this sounds _awful_ ? If I was thinking of coming "for the first time" and saw those on the directions page I'd navigate away straight away and never return.

You know what, stop being a naysayer and just try it for once instead of just pulling everything down and being so damn negative. The car instructions are damn easy as it gives several routes from coming from seperate parts of the country, and while the others are not ideal theres taxis, and flying has never been easy to get to newbury anyway. Please give something a try before grinding it into the dirt. Thanks

Hi Becky,

Flying has been easy, its called getting into london and jumping straight on a train that goes directly to newbury, hardly rocket science.

The instructions only gives details for the M1 and M40 which TBH are both awful roads.

Use the postcode of the venue to find your own ideal route then, which will avoid these 'terrible roads'.

Or buy a satnav system.

Grrr
It's 10 minutes from where I currently live, and 4 hours from where i'm heading to.

To all the folks who moan about finding it, it could not be simpler, so stop moaning :)
The M40 btw, is not an awfull road, use it quite often, just follow the sign posts.

Good venue btw.

It makes me laugh the southerners/welsh that moan about the extra 30-60mins of driving.

CLUK = Straight up the M5/M6 = Easy
Stratford = Half the distance and nice empty roads.

Don't get your point?

You realise Stoneleigh Park is about 15 miles away from Stratford Upon Avon?

Edit: Just checked google maps for exact distance from slan venue to i34 venue, its 17.2 miles via roads.

Murray-Mint
23rd March 2008, 16:54
Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely going, as I have a free ticket :) (Gogo Trivia!).

Despite the further distance, CLUK is easier to get to, as it's straight M5, M6 for me, and SLAN is relatively quick but a nightmare, as the A46 between the M5 and Evesham can be hell, it's just there's no nice direct route unlike Newbury (A417/9 -> M4)

If there's traffic on the A46, you could end up being stuck behind a tractor, etc.

new venue location is cool aint to far from northampton and the M45 is the road of kings. Miles of speed limit breaking fun.

o_O Calm down! There is no need to resort to insulting others.

My original point was at Murray, and the point was that Cluk is even further afield (although Murray says the roads are easier so fair enough) but Stoneleigh is only 17miles from Slan.

My point was that if you go to Slan, why is 17 miles further an issue?

Depending on your routes, I worked out that Gloucester (thats where you guys live approx, right?) to Stratford and Stoneleigh are 41 and 73 miles respectively.

I drive further for both events, (weirdly, both events are 114 miles for me! :O) yet the distance and roads do not bother me (despite the A34 being an utter disaster at times). I am sure that there are others who drive greater distances who are not bothered either?

We'd all love the lan to be on our doorstep (Newbury is only 30 mins for me) but the newer venue looks great, so I am prepared to drive for it.

Embrace change!

I live like 30mins(24miles) from the Newbury Racecourse, Stoneleigh Park is like 96miles ~2hrs so not 30-60mins more but more like 90mins.

If i'm going you might be lucky as I'm only a couple of miles from Lincoln :v

I live like 30mins(24miles) from the Newbury Racecourse, Stoneleigh Park is like 96miles ~2hrs so not 30-60mins more but more like 90mins.

And if I want to go to Newbury, I have to drive 3-4 hours depending on traffic. 90mins = nothing. Especially when you think of how far people from scotland have to travel if they want to come to an event like this (of which there is nothing similar inscale in the United Kingdom)

Getting to any event without driving is never fantastically easy, and in terms of from a business prospect the event needs space to expand, and also to develop to provide more for the attendees. Before you put the whole place down, wait for an event or two there to make your mind up and see what its like. Its certainly miles easier for me to get to, so I will hopefully be attending in the summer :)

At the end of the day whereever the i-series are it's going to be great for some people and a right pain in the ass for others. Like has been suggested you can find alternative routes if you don't like the ones given. We use a sat nav which is great, esp if we tell it to avoid traffic jams it picks up. Otheriwse the RAC and the AA route planners can do the same and warn you of traffic black spots.

Bring on the i-series where ever they are held!!

fowler002
23rd March 2008, 22:24
brightside I know there are people who have to travel further than me, my post was pointing out to Masterchief that 'us southerners' aren't just having to drive 'just' an extra 30-60mins.

with Newbury I could go for the day then return home and sleep in my bed rather than camping etc. now I'll have to stay at the lan for the 4days as it wouldn't be economical driving ~200miles each day.

p.s. the new Wembley would have been a good place to have it :)

lan more centralised = better for most people as it evens the playing field (better for me as its all heading north - no traffic =D)

After not attending an i series as a participant for 3 years or so, I may drag my self the 12 minutes down the road for the weekend.
Road links are easy enough and well sign posted, but I would hope Wizzo will be organising some form of bus, mini bus hire for a fee from Coventry or Leamington Rail Stations.
Otherwise thats going to be another £35-40 for taxis.
Stoneleigh Great place to camp lots of space, but a slightly annoying if you dont have a car as there are no shops etc within walking distance.
Also one of the venue pics showed one the livestock exhibition halls, please for the love of god check to make sure there isnt an animal show in that hall the previous week.

For anyone who dont drive the trip is really simple.

There is a national express stop 10mins taxi ride from stoneleigh or 3.57 miles. Most people will find a national express stop close to their home for pickup.
