View Full Version : Suggestion about the "fun" server, #24

Well, after spending quite some time on this server so far today, I discovered a few things which if you ask me, as a player are horrible and for me looks pretty unproffesional.
The first thing I noticed was the map, Mario_kart, showing up sometimes when somebody rocked the vote. There are two or three servers dedicated to this map, with many players and it looks for me, kind of silly trying to have the map for 30 minutes at time. If people want to play it, they change server.
And then there is the main topic of this post. The map called skill_ngcoop. The map is brilliant! I can't say it enough, it's my favourite map of the game so far. The problem is the people, they ruin it, they make the map unplayable with the statswhoring (can i say the w-word?). Building sentries right after entraces, then complaining on people that the map sucks, and it's boring, that people need to "L2P" and that song. So one possebility could be, having hte oppertunity to voteban/-kick people who ruin.
Now I can't tak about the amount of admins playing on the server, but I couldn't see anyone even bothering to trying to make the map playable. Switching map seemed like a more popular choise even when the map actually won the vote (which means more or less half of the server want's to play it, democracy goes where?).
It seems like somebody thought I looked like a bored retard since I wanted strict admins, well, there is a difference between anarchy and rules to follow with actions. If you can't figure, well, then personally I don't want to play with ya.

Well, this is that for now, I'll check in later, playtime now!

As you are aware, I popped onto that server later and had a full-blown kick/ban spree on that map and eventually gave you a server of your own to try the map on which you successfully did. :) The admin that was there at the time just before you posted this felt it was better to change the map rapidly due to most building SG's rather than go on a mass kicking spree which is always a valid option.

I am however now removing the map permanently from #24 as it's just far too much trouble, especially when the attitude from some players that should know better is "if the map allows me to build an SG then I will do so". So much for co-op play. :(

True. And I admit, I am really grateful for your effort in giving me (and quite few others) a really good playtime last night. And there were some people who tried to ruin it, but they behaved after warnings and maybe a kick.
And since most of my "whine-post" was about that map in specific I guess it kind of loses it's point now considering you removed it.

But still, if you ask me Mario_kart is silly to have in maplist. Exchange them with surf_maps or something :) .

surf is equally silly tho, ive only played the one so far, and it always ends up with sgs built INSIDE enemy spawn, making it impossible for anyone to get out...

been playing on this server a bit recently myself. really enjoying the best in class maps, the designer has been very clever in their design and come up with great ideas for each class. really thinking out of the box. hope he does another.

what is the point of the mario kart map? is there a purpose or do you get to the oponents resupply and set-up as an engineer as fast as possible (which is the only thing I've ever seen happen on the map)?

One of the scout maps I seem to have a real problem doing a second jump. It's probably a mechanic of the way the scouts double jump works (i rarely play the scout class) but I can't even make the first jump into the ctf map (I can crouch double jump up the initial block, but when i try do the distance jump the double jump doesn't appear to trigger 9 times out of 10 for me). any ideas?

You'll be glad to know that I removed Mario Kart from that server yesterday. :)

That scout map where you have to catch the intel? Second jump around the corner is hardest one. You can only pass first 2 jumps when you use a late extra jump otherwise you gonna fall down :s

The blame is to be laid at the feet of the map designer. All those problems can be countered before they even come up if the mapper thinks about what players will exploit while he is making the map. Its a shame that it happens but the admins cant be on every server 24/7 trying to make up for the mappers failures.
