I am having some problem understanding powersupplies and whats needed for my system.
4x SATA HDD
X1950XTX
AMD6000+
3 120Fans
2 cathoieds
I have bought a 680W Hiper type R II
It has 4 rails with 18a on each.
From what I have heard my card needs 30a will this power supply reroute power to where its needed or should i send ti back as it to low end for my not so new gfx card?

Hm, not sure about rails and voltage.
I have,
3x Sata hdd
2x 8800gts 320mb
Intel E6600
3x 120mm fan
1x cathode
All on a 550w psu, and I haven't had any problems.

I'm sure someone will tell me that I'm all wrong and should upgrade immediately or the world will explode.. meh.

That card must be a beast if its taking 30A!!!! Im sure the PSU is able to deal with unbalanced loads ie Delta

Nah they aint 30 amp cards, under load that card aint gunna hit above 12amps (crossfire uses unnder 20amps). The PSU u have is more then ample for your spec you aint got anything strenuous in your machine. Also remember when working out power usage remember things like number of dimms, and motherboard, usb devices, opticals drives etc

My BFG 8800GT's (http://www.reece-eu.net/images/AdamSLI) only require 22A max, when at full load. No way will 1 1950XTX or whatever want anywhere near that.
Even if it did, you can split the load across multiple rails. My PSU claims to only provide 19A on each 12v rail, and my setup requires:
11A on the motherboard GFX bit
5.5A on each gfx card
22A there, however you can split the load across multiple rails.

The X1950 pro (AGP) came with dual molex connectors to you could split the load between to rails to get the 30a
The PCI-E version might be less power hungry.
I can find any where on the net that say how much the card really needs. Some people say 8-10 some say 20 - 25 and some say 30a. Accoring to my nephiew who has the pro AGP card, his box says 30a.
This one says 40a

This on 30a

Use the dual connector to split between rails then :) It'll be fine.

when you say split the rails, so I have more rails and less power on each, or join 2 rails into one PCI-E connector and power it that way?

The side of the box does indeed say
550 Watt power supply or greater, 38 Amps on 12 volt rail recommended PCI-E compliant pwer supply with 6 pin PCI-E power connector required, (ATX 2.0 or higher)
That could be for crossfire though, as that is more draw then my 8800GTXs

well is up and running now so then lets see what we can get out of it. gonna try some gaming. I have noticed that my Mobo AN9 Fatal1ty has 3 Power supplys.
1 Molex, 1 4ping the normal big as mobo conector. The molex says PCI-E power 1.
