I'm wondering how players on the servers build up their scores? I do well on other servers, so I'm thinking these servers calculate the scores differently?

Maybe people are better than you.

Yeah I did think that but there player names don't flash up in the kill notifier but there score increases big time

If you have a kill or two in the top right other peoples kills wont show up until yours fade 10 seconds later.

I'm not talking about one or two kills but around 60 to 80 points difference. Now ok they may well be better than me but such a difference and also when I'm dead I don't see many others waiting to respawn

I can usually hit triple figures without breaking a sweat on a public server, there are some good people out there ;)

I don't doubt there's good players out there and I don't doubt that the class of player on multiplay servers are very good but the facts don't add up. I'm thinking there must be a different scoring system in place.
I play very agressively, which may get me killed a fair bit but means that I deal a fair bit of damage. I don't stay alive a longtime as I beleive in pushing forward or trying to kill greater than running back to spawn for 5 minutes to recover energy. It's quicker to die and respawn. I'm thinking that this is my undoing. The scoring system maybe setup for people that stay alive longer even tho they don't deal as much damage

The scoring system works on a couple of things.
Kills
Assisted kills
Building distructions
You can also gain points (I.E Engineer) if someone uses your teleport (half a point for each teleport by someone using it)
Sometimes you can really get into a game and not pay attention to the top right. If this is the case then obviously you can miss assists. Also if there is alot of action and alot of killing going on sometimes the "who killed who" top right screen won't display it for long.
Oh and the tele points don't display in top right either.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Im usually quite high at the top or beating people by quite a bit, all depend's on the map.
Ive managed not to die once on certain custom map's with demoman and engineer and get a insane amount of point's.
Just got to know the map's inside out and other people tendancie's I can spot a spy from mile's away since there alway's stupid and walk around people or walk backward's or by the side of the wall toward's a engineer.
Practice Practice Practice and youll get there.

Its also based on strategy and your / the enemy team. If you got a good strategy 1st day you get many points (Building a nice SG on dusty). On second day the other team got 3 skilled spys and your sentry, builded on same place, is down within 1 min. :)

I thought Medic's got points for amount healed. Might be wrong there, however when I go medic I find it really easy to top the server and rarely ever get to actually kill anyone.

counts as an assist

but i'm fairly sure it's not displayed at the top right as a medic.
do engi's also get points for healing and providing ammo?

Nothing for providing ammo :( Although maybe worth testing this if someone has the time or cba :)
Also there's talk of changing the way the Pyro scores to how much damage he does rather than just for kills/assists. tbh i find I can score pretty fekking high with a Pyro and really don't see this as a necessary change - although it will be nice to finally reap some score off of those bastards who suicide while running away from you on fire to deny you your kill.

Indeedy, suiciders are so annoying. Including demomen who happily blow themselves up to avoid you killing them, be it as pyro or any other class :/
Would be nice to see point accumulation for damage - not just as pyro, as if you hurt them enough you force them to go back for a medic (or they continue pushing and die), which obviously helps your team.

As people have said, get better. Triple figures are easy to get as medic/soldier/scout/heavy/demo/sniper/engy/pyro/spy.
Points are calculated for assists, destructions, captures, defence and kills. Headshots are 2 points as well.
What rubbish. I also play agressively and I find it quite hard to die, especially as scout/soldier. I also push forward and kill. You need to try and work out when the best time to attack is, and when to fall back a little bit.
It's quicker to die and respawn
Just.. Lol.

I only really frequent the MPUK 2fort 24/7 servers as im quite the little dirty sniping whore ;)
However it is quite usual to see a couple of people racking up the points far faster than others, Ive not played on an MPUK server and walked out with less than 150 score yet.
quite often 2-3 times the score of the 2nd highest scoring on the team.
<3 TF2 sniper class :D

What is this anyway? E-peen boost thread?
S'not hard to get over 100/120 as a sniper. Especially on a 2fart server.

cool, never played any one particually decent that i know of, so this could be fun. (assuming that being a TF2 admin, albeit for Jolt, that you can actually play the game to a decent standard.)
