Most new cases come with mic, headphone usb etc on the front panel.

Mine does not. howerver i have bought a front panel but the cables that it came with are crap. The audio wants me to run the cable backoutside the case and plug it into the phono jacks.

What i need is a cable to go from the front panel headers on my X-Fi to my front panel. All casses ive seen have them built in but short of going to maplins and making my own is anyone aware of somewere i can get one ?

Ive tried scan OCUK, KustomPCs etc with no luck.

I need this to worrk as the clever sod who designed the X-Fi made the optical out port the same port as the mic in grrrrrr.

afaik, the connector the creative cards use is proprietary, so you can't just plug the front panel from the case in. it'll only connect to the 5.25" drive module

Not true.

the new X-Fi extreme gamer has the intel HD front panel audio conector on it. That it uses the same pin header as standard motherboard audio headers not the IDE style ribbon cable that came on the original X-Fi.

Not exactly, my Antec 900 came with an HD audio connector that goes on to a small 7 pin (I think) connector on my soundcard.

Madcat, I don't think these can be bought seperate and you would probably have to buy a new case to get this. I may be wrong there admitedly but I really do think thats going to be your course of action.

just cracked open an HP desktop here at work.

basically i need a cable with the connector in the following picture at each end.

The blanked pin is in a different place for USB and Firewire but the blocks are same size, i would like them also if anyone knows were i can buy these blocks i can make the cable myself.

i am using a mountain mods case if i use my mobos onboard audio i can connect my logitech speakers via optical and my headphones and mic at the same time.

If i use the X-Fi in my old case i can connect it up to the front panel and use those headphone and mic socket.

on the X-Fi itself the optical out is a shared multi port which is also the mic in so i have to mess arround unplugging things this is really annoying me.

I may have to find some duff old pcs cut the above connectors off and make my own cable.

I've bought from them before, arrived in about a week and was fairly cheap as it was just sent by USPS Airmail, rather than courier.
