View Full Version : The complete Concord over-reaction

Ok first up what happened for anyone who was not there.
I'm flying towards a wreck with no loot to salvage it, I'm about 10km away and WhiteKnight starts tractor beaming it. Earlier WK did this but i salvaged it and he asked me "did you shoot it" I said no, but got the idea that shooting wrecks was ok.
So to make a point that he was moving it away from me, I target and select 1 rail gun to fire. That's odd a warning box, naa all that will happen is tell the player I'm shooting his wreck, I'm not going to destroy it. So I ignore it fire 1 shot and turn my laser off. Job done.
Bam! All of a sudden all my graphs are on full red there's a message about concord a big explosion and I'm a pod! I was completely stunned! We were in 0.8 system.
I've read in multiple guides that concord are not a protective force but a punishment force and considering its a game mechanic designed by CCP this is quite possibly ridiculous. I'm a new player on my first month, if i was not in a reasonable financial situation that could easily have put me off. Concord should only have reacted like that if i destroyed the wreck, which i believe I did not. But even then the wreck was in my fleet so, what's the problem.

Am I right in assuming not everyone on these ops is in PSPR?

Correct unbeknown to me, the wreck was apparently marked for Silk who is in the alliance but not the corp. But the wreck was still white to me and I could salvaged or looted it no problem.

What he said.
If you shot it for no good reason, surely the consequences are your own fault?
(Yes, mitigating circumstances, we should really have EVERYONE on fleet ops in the same alliance, but if we want help from the some of the more experienced members (and they ARE helping by turning up, throwing ISK at us etc.) then we can't really demand they quite their own current corps.)

This is what got me, when I accidentally shot a gang mate whilst trying to put repper drones on him.
Do be careful. And the more of us that can be in PSPR the better.
That said, if you need help replacing whatever you lost, just shout. As a fellow victim I can introduce you to your nearest VOCAL support group. (Victims of CONCORD's Arbitrary Logic) :)

I don't recall exactly, but I'm sure I read on the EVE Website, in the New Player section, that ANYTIME you are about to commit a hostile act, you will get a message box up.
Best you don't ignore it next time :D Hope your ship wasn't too expensive :(

i lost 250mil + of nighthawk to this, doing a mission involving lots of NPCs and was looting at the same time, it defaulted target over to the wreck as i fired, though since i was switching between 2 accounts i didnt even notice till i saw from my other account that there was concord ALL Over the place.
Basicly never shoot anything in high sec that isnt an NPC. They added the feature of wrecks causing aggro for concord to kill you due to people griefing in high sec by killing mission wrecks or ore cans. Only people in corp can get away with it.
Alternativly go fly missions in 0.4. Its not that bad really.

I'm so tempted to train up to a Cyclone. :S Expensive but good as support on these bigger missions that are being looked at.
I have some of the support skills needed for a ship this big, but not all. Oh the temptation...
Are gang support modules worth looking at?

So if you are doing a mission in Deadspace, and manage to faff up, CONCORD will still get you out there? Nasty ...

I'm sure its fine .. if you survive the gate-camp :D

If you fleet jump as a fleet of 10+ it is less likely to happen, only 1s and 2s will get ganked if you go small.
Jump big, and in the same alliance preferably so people see tags, and expect trouble so you think about things.

maybe we should all fit up in cheap frigates and jump into a gate camp for some cheap fun pvp experience :P

Only really effective at all on command ships, and even then only REALLY effective with a mindlink.
Now go check the skills for those two criteria and have fun with that (also I already have a mindlinked claymore we can use for this if necessary).

I'll take that as a no then. Why give them the bonusses to run them then?
