Same as the frigate thread, only with cruisers. Go!

Basic Blaster Thorax

High
2x Heavy Neutron Blasters
3x Heavy Ion Blasters
Mid
1x Microwarpdrive
1x Warp Disruptor (20km range)
1x Stasis Webifier

1x Nanofiber Internal Structure
2x Magnetic Stabilizers
1x Wildcard (T2 Small Rep, EANM, DC, whichever)

You should be getting the idea by now. Swap out MWD and disruptor for PvE, also speed mods if you like. Use free grid from removing MWD for a plate.

Highs
3x 200mm Railgun 1
1x Drone Link Augmentor
1x Small Tractor Beam
Mids
1x Cap Recharger

1x 10MN Afterburner
Lows
2x Active Hardeners (I tend to go N-Type)
1x EANM I
1x Medium Armor Repairer II
Drones
Whatever is right for the mission rat type.

Maller Level 2 Missions
High
5x focused medium pulse
Use ultraviolet most of the time (8k optimal), radio crystals if things hovering at 14km annoy you, and smartbomb anything that comes closer than 4k.
1x medium nosferatu OR medium smartbomb (smartbomb makes drone missions go faster, nos if your cap skills are low.)
Mid
1x Web
1x 10mn AB
1x Cap Recharger.
Low
1x Medium Armor Repairer I
1x 400mm plate (your choice)
1x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I (for broad resistances.)
Other three slots: capacitor power relays, power diagnostic systems, or power cores, depending on your skills & what you need. More cap is better.

I wouldn't worry about the Sensor Booster OR the AB on this setup.

The joy of Caldari in Missions is that you can strike for good damage at range, therefore you don't need to get close fast negating the need for an afterburner. Sensor Booster, only if you are in a hurry. I would probably swap those 2 items for another invulnerability field and a cap recharger.

Not sure if that fits with low skills. Still an option, yes.

Yeah, I know, very hard to be sure. Using best named modules here and there might help, as would using an RCU (Reactor Control Unit) instead of the PDS (Power Diagnostic System)

ALSO, with Missiles, take the type you need. If you are fighting Guristas take Scourge (They do Kinetic damage and that is what Guristas are weakest in) for example.

Under the Maller setup, Amarr can start with level 4 Hull upgrades, so a hardener instead of armor plating might be a viable alternative. I'ld probably use an armor repairer and 2 specific active hardeners depending on the mission for low slots :v

always fit an afterburner, trust me it will save you more times than any other module. there is nothing worse than being stuck on an object and having to cruise away so you can warp out while watching your ship getting pounded.

Although this can happen, I've not had it happen that often, and I can't recall it causing me to lose a ship.

It happens more when pirating in belts :)

And if pirating in belts, you ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use an MWD.

This is what I want my Rupture to look like for gang PvP work. Thoughts?

You'll want an MWD instead of the AB. I don't know what that does for your grid (well, ruins it) so you'll probably want to drop one or both launchers as a result, swap to a reactor control instead of PDU and apart from that, traing Engineering 5 :p

Oh and tracking disruptors are rubbish, swap out for a sensor booster and warp disruptor.

Ryvita
12th December 2007, 14:15
I have engineering 5 you cheeky sod. :p

MWD is completely unsustainable in terms of capacitor and I can't fit MWD and injector and subsidiary weapons. I have naff all missile skills so dropping them might be the way to go I guess. :(

The logic beind the disruptors was that I figured it would be fighting from behind a cloud of tackling rifters and as such the best advantage it could give would be to reduce the tracking speed of the victim's guns.

Define 'completely unsustainable'. If it runs for more than 20s you're fine.

My fave stabber setup atm for PVP -

4x dual 180mm IIs, 2 x Assault launcher IIs
1x 10MN MWD II 1x Warp disruptor II 1x Large shield extender II
2x Gyro IIs 1x Damage control II in the lows, can always speed mod it though.

Use barrage with the dual 180s and it can hit happily with high skills at 12+

However if you lack the skills, replace all the above with TI or named varients. Which is what i used to fly. Still works very well though you do lose the range. I once tackled a carrier in it and was able to evade its fighters till help arrived, very nice little ship.

You tackled a carrier?

a) You nutter. That's the equivalent of a small yorkshire terrier taking on a rhino, isn't it?

b) I thought carrier's weren't supposed to go anywhere without support?

Probably best to start a new thread for that. Also it wouldn't be a newbie setups thread either :p

Make sure you get some sensor boosters so you can lock those wrecks as fast as possible.
