what is strat lan like?

i have been to numerous i series since i9 and have really enjoyed them all. however overall they have become a bit too big for me and some of the friendliness has gone from it.
so my question is, does slan have that small friendlier feel to a lan party?

Short Answer Yes.

Longer Answer, I prefer stratlan to I Series for that reason, it is friendlier, more relaxed, lan party affair. There is nothing wrong with the I-Series thou', I just dont go to that as the majority of my friends are all staff (so are rushing around busy like). Unfortantly there aren't that many large organised games (their use to be), but in it's defense, plenty of games are played and a shout goes out when the games go up. Generally if you happy to play a variety of games (computer / card / board / drinking) you should enjoy it. =)

<3 stratlans , opposed to iseries that has chagned alot now. Stratlans are much more sociable, alcohol flows and frolics follow shortly after. As there are a small amount of peeps you normally are in a server with most of the lan so you can shout "MY SPLEEN" across the room. So YES its great.

I have been to a few SLAN's before, i can't say its been like that for me Aard but then again i don't know what you get upto behind the scenes ;)

There's nothing quite like stepping over Wizzo, whose passed out under a desk, to get to your PC every morning.

Went to my first slan in Oct, as a few of my friends had been and said how much better it was. The BYO drink is a big bonus to me as I can have a nice cold can next to my desk inside of a flimsy little plastic pint glass that is always gonna fall over into something like my pad or keyboard etc.

The atmosphere as well is a lot more close ( and the smells as well :) ) but having not really spoke to MPUK staff to much at the 3 i series I went to it was nice to have a chat about things and to actually see then playing games (and beating wizzo).

Overall if you don't like how big iseries has got you will probably get more outta slan, plus the price is not bad either :D
