From the SL Xmas page:
£10 per day (6pm-6pm) for Spectator entry, or full event pass for £25.
Just.....what?! :psypop:

Failing to see a problem...?
(yes I know what follows is possibly a lengthy debate but overall that's what deals are for)

100% increase in price.. surely can't be right? This is a fairly low-key community event after all. Same cost as the i-series but no where near the level of 'service'? Would be interesting to know what the justification is..
If it isn't an error, this is a great shame, as slan was always a fun affordable event for specs to pop along to, and see friends for the day.

Aha it used to be £5 a day?
I can't remember ever spectating Slan (although I'm sure I did at SOME point) I thought it was the fact it was the £25 for the whole thing (4 days) over the fact it's £10 per day (which would be £40 overall :p: )
Pirate Edit (as opposed to a ninja edit... Yarr!): Turns out I spectated last Xmas Slan :p:

OMG, I failed to notice this.
£25 to.......effectively go to the pub. Shame :(
With Helen on this - it is essentially a low-key community event, so I do think £25 for the whole time is a bit steep.
Tell us it's a mistake..... Christmas spirit 'n' all?!

Previously, it was £5 per day 9am-6pm (9 hours) with the overnight only included if paying for the consecutive days. In reality, hardly anyone paid £5 as they were staying overnight, which meant paying for the next day anyway. We made this change a few events ago at the i-series to simplify things, so it's £10 a day for a 24-hour period, with a discount for multiple days. It actually works out little different to the previous costs:
Previously:
Friday evening - £5
Saturday 9am-6pm - £5
Sunday 9am-6pm - £5
Monday 9am-4pm - £5
So £20 in total
Now it's
Friday 6pm-Saturday 6pm - £10
Saturday 6pm-Sunday 6pm - £10
Sunday 6pm-Monday 4pm - £10
Or the whole period for £25.
We have also increased the cost slightly (£5 overall) for SLAN Xmas to cover the extra costs of party stuff and the selection of free drinks we put on in the bar. Normal Stratlans would work out the same. Hardly a 100% price increase.

£20 to arrive on Sat afternoon and leave on Sunday morning is a bit steep though...
e: Perhaps for Slan compared to i-series a '24-hour pass' type system could be used, where the spectator arrives and their arrival time is written on their event pass, to run until the same time the following day? Obviously at an i-series this would be unworkable due to numbers, but shouldn't be a big problem at a Slan.

Now it's
Friday 6pm-Saturday 6pm - £10
Saturday 6pm-Sunday 6pm - £10
Sunday 6pm-Monday 4pm - £10
Or the whole period for £25.
So that's £10 if you leave before 6 sunday :)

There is flexibility there. We're not going to split hairs over someone paying another £10 from say 4pm Saturday to 6pm Sunday. I normally CBA to go round checking people until lunchtime anyway.
Interesting idea about the 24 hour pass which is time-stamped, but again we're quite laid back at going round checking people so not sure it would be necessary.

So it's just for the Xmas slan? Normal ones are still £5?
BTW,If it's mainly for the party stuff and free drinks, why not only charge the extra fee on those nights? If you only pop along on Sunday during the day to see people, you're not gonna benefit at all from the fun, frolics and drinks happening on Fri/Sat eve? Same goes for Monday. Those 2 days won't be any different from a normal lan, very few people drink on a Sunday due to driving back the next day... that's if there's any free drink left of course! :/
Also, under 18s? Free soft drinks for them?

Ah, I did wonder if an element of the price hike was due to the Christmassy extras and party stuff etc. which I guess is understandable. Hopefully common sense will prevail and people turning up only for a day or an evening here and there will be charged a fair price. As you say, flexibility. For the smaller, lower-key events, I'm sure this is possible.
Ps. Selection of free drinks :D :D :D :D

We could quibble about the price all day, or you could get a job!
Wizzo will there be any seasonal drinking games, competitions, raffles, betas, anything?

OK, maybe I never realised how expensive it was to spectate a StratLAN. I just assumed it was previously a lot less than i-series because there are zero of the spectator features that the i-series lays claim to.

It is a genuine concern of mine Jay, i'm planning to spec the February Stratlan. Assuming the prices set at Xmas Slan do not change for February, arriving late afternoon on sat and leaving before 6 on sunday is going to cost me £20. The same as it used to cost for the full event at 'old prices'. This is no doubt a huge discouragement for me and many other casual 'specs'. Old prices, that would have cost £10. 100% increase and with nothing extra (like the stuff at the i-series) to warrent the increase.
Bear in mind this is the February event i'm referring to. I do agree that Xmas slan is a bit of a different situation.

Even for 1 day 6pm - 6pm in February (if the prices do not drop) this is still 100% increase to what one would have paid!

Nope, you'd have paid £10, as previously spectator tickets were 9am-6pm with overnight only included if you paid for both days each side.
The pricing structure for Xmas is slightly different to the others, as frankly spectators are much more likely to drink their fill from the bar than normal BYOC players, for the aforementioned "lack of other **** to do than the i-series". This was not intended to be a price hike for normal StratLANs, but rather simplifying the tickets. It's just implementing it at the Xmas one has raised eyebrows as yes it does include a price increase for spectators for this event.

Oh yes, no doubt all will enjoy your generosity at the Christmas event! :D:
I was just concerned that the Feb event was in danger of price increase, when there is nothing there to really justify one.
