Who will play EVE at StratLAN?

How many people will be playing EVE at StratLAN? Thinking particularly of newer players, returning players and/or people wanting to do the trial?

For those already playing, please list character name, skill points, location, Corporation (if any) current ship(s) used and what you would like to do. We can kit out new starters with an appropriate ship and gear to help them join in.

Oh yeah, me playing would be contingent on actually having some of this "teamwork" and "space battles" going on, not "Come play this game it's awesome" followed by "Oh hi, you're here. have some money and go play single player (just like WoW!)"

Yeah, hopefully we can avoid this by having everyone in one place so we can yell at them to come play. Every effort I've made thus far to get everyone playing together has been met with 'oh I can't make that time' :fist:

Interested in getting into eve, how big is the download client (ie have i got time to download it before SLAN or will it be easier to grab files off someone else?

I really would like to try this out properly. Played the tutorial and an hour afterwards but then WoW pulled me back. I loved the Elite series of games (ever since the BBC micro) and this looks like Elite MMO :p

Should really sub up my account and then have a kick about again :)

I promise you all that if we get a bunch of people playing it will be awesome. If its just a handful of people doing their own thing, I'd say 80% will get bored because playing Eve solo *is* simply boring.

got my new trial account and im in pspr my name is infenro and it should last till after stratlan meaning i can play there and join in and see if i like it when we do something together.

People getting trial accounts should make sure they train High Speed Manoeuvring and Propulsion Jamming before Stratlan :)

Around 20hrs total I think, the main train is Afterburners 4, everything else takes minutes.

Free time pre slan is at a premium and i was quite hoping to start my trial account there.Get it now, start training. Training happens while you're offline, you only need to be online when each one completes (you are told how long it will take...) so you can logon for 20 secs to change each time.

Ok, well there seem to be a number of people that will be playing EVE at the weekend. :)

As such, can we start to think about coordinating location? We need somewhere with decent markets, central but fairly close to the edge of empire for access to low sec and 0.0. It would be useful if it wasn't rabidly territorial 0.0 too. We do not want to piss off a major alliance since a number of us will be showing PSPR tags.

Pissing off a bit alliance is a non-issue here.

However, setting yourself up in Rens before the Lan would probably be a smart idea.

Afty and I may be going for a stroll around the area on Tuesday night if anyone wants to swing by.

Will also try and pick up some decent agents in the area to allow some co-op missioning. i can probably get some level 2s but if anyone can get 3s in the area, that would be useful.

Oh, in that case don't bother moving down, stay where you have your agents otherwise you'll have to increase standings with whatever new corp you pick. It'll only take 30 mins to get there from anywhere else in empire.

I'm in Hek at the moment and working on Boundless Creation rep, but will look at moving over to Rens if there's a decent spread of agents there. There's a +18 quality level 2 agent that I'm trying to grind up to.

You say 2 agents are available, are they both level 1 or...?

It's all about standing.. there are a few skills you can train that will help you no end with getting new, better, agents. Namely Social and Connections.

Was so optimistic when i tried this a year or so back. Seemed very difficult to get into, and required a lot of sitting around and mining...

Not my cup of tea really, I prefer the whizzy zippy fly around shooty ship games instead, right click and move here just bored me too much :(
