The 'most likely' cause of capacity issues with Virgins ADSL service is that they use BT Datastream (rather than BT IPStream) and just don't have enough capacity from all (many?) exchanges. :)

Could be any number of reasons of course, but the above seems the most likely.

wow mate join the club got Virgin Cable here

wow + multiplay servers = 300/500ms in peak times for me
bbc.co.uk pings in around 300ms

Do any of the above around 1am - 4pm and you get your happy 10-20ms pings

Been with them since BB first came out never any problems, now since virgin took over its well gone down hill.

Been on the phone with there tech support guy, checked my modem, area etc and all is fine.

Might be time to switch me thinks :(

^ ouch

On Bethere I have slightly high wow pings but that may be the server and its bad route, multiplay server connections are always at 12-20 ping which I happy with.

now if multiplay only hosted WoW. XD

I got a little closer to understanding what the problem is, in peak times I am routed differently than off peak, not strange in itself I know. However peak = 500ms, and off peak = 10ms but there is still no problems when I ring them /sigh

hehe its funny because I was thinking about it, since your pimping in here dont suppose it will do any harm to ask some questions about it here.

I have never had ADSL before, did the line check and it says I can get up to 6.5. Which is more than fine for what I need, I just want to play wow and TF2 anyways. We have vanilla BT for our phone calls, but does this cause any problems with setup?

More importantly, assuming I ordered this week would it be ready before Christmas?

Use an MTR tool to see where the problem likely is. I'm on Virgin Cable and have no issues with high latency, been playing CoD4 on various servers over the weekend and City of Heroes last night, latency was fine.

Yes, Virgin is getting a little slow recently. I have been having some connection trouble and dropped packets and such.

I haven't noticed any major latency on anything, but then I only tend to use the connection between 8pm - 10pm weekdays and over the weekend.
