dont you have to be like super imba and in the top 0.5% of arena teams to get that mount?

Why don't they make an interesting mount instead of just revamping the drake every time, I mean come on a set of epic wings or something for the actual player would be far more amusing

Can't be that rare, there's dozens of people with them in shattragasijasdajsd wherever it's called.

you have to have a top arena rating out of 10 full servers, say 2700 or something whorish like that. //this is what ive heard mabye rumor.
my bro just got his season 3 gloves with his 1700, then realised theres a amazing hunter axe for only 1k!.

The Merciless Nether Drake is a reward for reaching Gladiator rank, i.e being in the top 0.5% of teams playing in your battlegroup. Each battlegroup is slightly different but Blackout meant you had to reach about 2350+ as well as a few other conditions to qualify.
Believe me it was ****ing difficult with the amount of quality PVP'ers in my battlegroup.

All new items should be available from the Honor and arena venders. Anything older then season 3 can be bought for honor (which anyone can farm).

Lets clear up the confusion:
To get the Arena Mount, and the Gladiator Title, you needed to be in the top 0.5% of whatever battlegroup you were in, in any bracket (2v2, 3v3 or 5v5). The arena rating systems is a ELO system, so just playing a lot won't get you it, you need to put up a good win ratio as well. If you were in the top team in your bracket, you also got a "Merciless Gladiator" title.
Chris: Other people have similar (but not quite the same) looking mounts, because a long quest chain, and some reputation grinding in Shadowmoon can get you a normal Netherdrake. However, the arena mounts are slightly faster. The only other mount which matches the speed of the arena mounts is the Phoenix mount (which is a very rare drop from Kael'Thas, the end boss of Tempest Keep).
With my honours and arena points, I got gloves/head/wand and belt/boots/ring, and with badgers I got trinket/cloak. I want the shoulders as my next priority upgrade, but getting 2000 points in week one might be a bit hard, as pointinflation won't have kicked in yet.
With Season3 starting, Season 1 gear is now avalible for honour (for playing battlegrounds rather than arenas).
In a way these items are wellfare epics. With the quality of season 3 gear, its well worth using a lot of it in PVE if you haven't got any real PVE progression (as even with the stats emphasising survival for classes that don't need it, the overall item quality is so much higher than dungeon blues and kara/T4 epics), and you can get them at a reasonable rate playing 10 games a week, as long as you manage about a 50/50 win/lose record. However unless we want to go back to way raiders with no PVP ability at all could destroy good PVP players on gear alone (pre-TBC), the arena does still need to reward good quality gear (and for PVE purposes, I wouldn't select a single PVP item to use over my MH/BT gear - although for some classes the weapons in particular are simply the best items in the game).

Meh - i got to keep my arena season 1 Gladiator title - but they took the mount of me - 2689 rating and i still didnt get a mount in 2v2!!! I moved server and the title stayed but the mount got stolenz from me!
to be fair ill keep my t6 gear - far less stressful to PvE than PvP imo, however its probally quicker to gear up in PvP gear :(

Picked up a piece of S2 and S3. Got honour bracers. However C-B-A farming a world of mats and gold needed to enchant and gem it all, so it can sit in the bank for a while.
Mixing some PVE and PVP gear together gives a decent amount of AP, Crit, and 10k health. Looks like I might be having a raid break over Xmas so will give this arena thing (http://www.darklegacycomics.com/104.html) a bit more focus.
Currently farming AV for Orgrimmar rep so I can ride a kodo.

Well I'm farming honor right now and its mindnumbingly boring sometimes haha.
Load of casual PVPers adding to the lag and queues atm. Give it another week and the interest will die down - I hope!
Fyi wheres my black Warstrider (chocobo)? They didn't impliment it. Bastards

Your forgetting its bugged at the moment. Many players who were due rewards haven't recieved them. Blizzard is working on it, however its taking a freaking long time.

Again it'd be nice if they offered things other than mounts and weapons for everyone, maybe a class based alteration... I know I'd do arena if I could pimp my cat out with some shineys even if it is some armour that's just part of a skin (so a rare model of my pet)

Something like what Blizzard originally had planned in AV, which was to attached a flag to a high ranked PVP player and give a bonus aura to any players around him. Similar to the buffs generals used to give.
I'm not sure why a mount is the reward for top ranking players in the arena. I guess its intended to be a status symbol. But it is the fastest mount in the game, and doesn't cost £200 off ebay.

I am the only MPUK member that plays serious PVP?
Killy, I found this. Its not exactly what you wanted but its similar and nothing to do with PVP.
The Inscription profession will allow players to permanently enhance their own spells and abilities and those of other players. You can think of it as enchanting for your spells and abilities. We'll provide more specific details on the mechanics of this new profession in the months ahead.
Interesting, but you knew that already Killy - man of WoW knowledge!

Yeah I'm talking PvP rewards here not a profession.
So far I've not really been that inclined to PvP if they had class based rewards even if it was just a visual effect then I'd probably do it for ****s and giggles.

Great news: The Zen/Telia latency was not present last night. Sounds like I can actually do something other than the cooking daily now.
Bad news: I'm back at work, and gym in the evening. And I spend that two-hour gap between the two learning how to play offensively in Supcom FA. Now I don't actually have any free time to play lag-free WoW.

I'd like to do arenas. I just need the right kind of people to play with. I either don't meet insane requirements (I'm a casual player!) or when I am around to play everyone else is off raiding.

The differences between battlegrounds and arena can be much harder then people think. Players can become complaisant in battlegrounds, going idle, not concentrating and being carried. It isn't necessarily the case and I'm not putting anyone down, but generally gaining honor isn't difficult.

If you like I can bring my disc/holy priest if you want to experience arena :)
Fyi Andy YAY ITS WORKING! The Zen/Telia latency was really starting to piss me off. Yesterday was the first time for 2 weeks when I've been able to play without 600ms. Like you I've had to do heroics and avoid arena or raiding.

Damnit, the cunning plan of using a couple of alts in my 2v2 team with Spritney to play 3 games (and lose - prot warrior + noob warlock lols) and then switch back to mains, has been thwarted by Blizz also now requiring Team Rating to be over 1850 for weapons as well as Personal.
Going to try and find a team for 3v3 for monster play now the lag is fixed. 2v2's probably gonna be an alt points feeder and we don't have the right matrix to beat something like warrior/druid (well, depends how good/bad they are!) so it's off to the 3's.

I've done some arena (with hunter/rogue/priest combo) it's just you have to get the right mix with the people you're with, with that combo I had to usually tank their tank and try to stop the DPS from raping the healer, not fun :p:
