????
There is a link to it in AGUT.
But i cant find any mention at epic games or on the UT3 forums.
Legit anyone or not. I do not want a beta one.

It's legit as it's on Epic's own download site.
It is a beta patch though. (Which fits in with the whole release schedule of UT3 - release stuff with loads of bugs and see how many complaints you can get...). It wasn't announced in here because Epic asked that it be kept quiet (presumably so they didn't get spammed with problems over the weekend) - but of course other people have been advertising the patch everywhere and there's no point being hush still.
The new patch still doesn't fix rcon or unbreak the admin side and the game is still a long way from finished even at 1.1 beta. That said, the full release should be considered alpha software so this patch will be an improvement.
It's clear Epic are working hard to overcome the problems caused by a rushed release, but they're still got some weeks' work left.
"We will release it when it's done." Riiiighhttt...

Thanks Flash.
Is it worth trying ??
As its a beta patch it would i assume screw up the game when the proper patch is released.

Hey all,
Me and my clan have been testing this new patch, great release notes etc, but fails to deliver.
FOV In menu doesnt change (stays on 1 LOL)
But, if u adjust thru console (fov 110) for example, it does stay.
Friends list now has no friends in and doesnt work sending invites or receiveing them, same with messages.
Server List now in crappy small font, not in rest of games style.
You can still play with people who havnt patched and also on non patched servers (good or bad? I am still deciding...)
My friends computer now restarts every time it tries to connect to a Multiplayer server. LOL
Theres more we dont like and more we do like, but thats the mains bits for now.
Hope this helps, tbh, wait for the stable release.

If you login as admin in console on a server, that server changes to LAN mode and disappears from the internet.
Installing maps is a huge pain - not only do they now live in an insane path off Documents, but you need to restart UT3 for it to find them.
No umod package handler like previous versions.
Large parts of uscript have been disabled or removed - nobody can write an irc repbot at the moment for example, because the classes for making connections don't exist.
I'm losing my initial love for UT3. It has very little to do with previous versions other than the name and gameplay. Everything else is horrible, broken or so clunky it's awful to use.

I don't know from adam WRT an admin point of view but as a player
THis game really does seem as if they were forced to get it for the Xmas market whether it was ready or not.
I don't think there will be a UT4 judgeing by how long they took to make this.
Fouling up the game admins is really not clever and screwing up the modding community who want to do more than mapping is dumb.
UT has always lived or died by its modders. Get them on side and your golden. But if you do not Weelllllllll.

tis a shame, seems most of the missions have little or no video story to them.
well another game ruined by the christmas rush, santa claus can go straight to game development hell.

I have high hopes of the stable release. It had better deliver.
Also any news of a Pro Mod (like Q4 Max kinda thing) for UT3 under development? Game SERIOUSLY needs one for Dueling and TDM (The skins etc are awful)

Neophyte
25th November 2007, 21:34
you can hax the charactors in the ini files - no need for unlock codes (and yes you can unlock all the charactors)

hey I think the patch is awesome. great improvements and really addresses a lot of stuff that was annoying (if not perfect).
consider the speed at which it cameout..I say not bad. :) that said, I'm sure additional patches to come will cover basically every issue.. UT3 ain't going anywhere soon.
for quick lazy reference here's the : UT beta patch full list changelog. (http://www.unrealaddicts.com/forums/unreal-tournament-wiki/19374-unreal-tournament-3-beta-patch-changelog.html#post69102)

Yay!
Guess who's not got an internet connection at the moment!
(I'm guessing the entire testing team did...)
Played a handful of stages of the campaign last night, restarted to make a few ini tweaks and had to restart the campaign, and reset loads of other settings - was not a happy Bean!
P.S. Here (http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1472671) it is as an available download, now I've just got work out how to get 181mb back home...

im a even uphappier bean with the lack of any kind of storyboard between mission's, its just like on slug out rubbush offline map after another.
needless to say I just "F10" unlockallchars, and now theres not one need to do the single player.

I've never played the single player games before - I hate playing bots, but I'm happy to give this one a go while I have no interweb at home.
Though, at least two of the stages I did last night were just random failures/successes due to the bot teammates/opponents. E.g. I failed the first warfare map while working my arse off (but not knowing wtf to do or where to go - RTFM etc.). Immediately afterwards my bots aced the entire map in what can't be far off a record time, before I had a chance to actually do anything.
Maybe the bots were learning the game/map too...

they have only had like 4 years to develop the game and they still manage to sned out a shafted version quite funny really.

I can tell you don't work in software development (or anything else involving punctuation use :p )
This 2nd patch looks more like reasonable patch-type-stuff to me.
Some of the fixes in the 1.1 patch are pretty fundamental - like being able to save settings and off-line game progression without having to go online first... duh
Though in fairness 1.1 was spammed about pretty soon after release - my guess is a lot of the 1.1 fixes must've been ready for release but not sufficiently tested at the time the DVD burning elves needed it.
On another note, as I couldn't get the patch home, I played Tomb Raider Anniversary Edition last night instead (free with gf8800gt, which of course, it massively under-utilises). Suckier gfx, but nicer bum :XD:

patch 1.2 is stated as being a good candidate for an official release, however needs to be tested first.
