So....i have been playing as a Blade Master. I am only lvl 15 as i work full time and only play in the evenings between TF2.

I was stuck on a quest when a lvl 20+ said he would help. He partied me and the xfire ingame voice became acitve (which was a first for me).

We ran through and all of a sudden he spawned loads of "robots". I was like WTF!

I don't know what he was but i am presuming he was an Engi??

My question is....what is the best class in PEOPLES own opinions?

I enjoy blade master but he just didn't seem as effective as this "Engi"...

Thoughts please.....

So far the most fun I've had (I've played every class bar Eng :p: ) is with the Marksman just due to the leet 1st person aspect in which I get to shoot the hell out of everything and everyone, got a lvl 20ish envoker which wasn't too bad as they do a LOT of damage but it just doesn't seem to be as fun :(

I think it depends on how you want to play, I played a lot of marksman during beta and it is great! But saying that I did try every other class.

Post beta I started a guardian, I also only play every now and again, now for soloability I'd have to say the Guardian. Admitedly I have died twice, because I was being stupid in both cases. They're great in the middle of a ruck, and the shield boost and heal abilities mean you've gotta be an idiot to die. The one downside is airial enemies (i.e. Soul reapers) that aren't always in range, but a good hook can sort that out.

When I complete the game with my guardian I'm either gonna start an evoker or a summoner.

I have one of every class and they are all rather fun. The most fun I have had is with Evoker and Guardian.

Then I would put Blade Master and Engineer, with Summoner and Marksman last. I haven't really played these two classes too much though, I think mine are lv5 and lv2 respectively. I was saddened to find out that the super large sniper rifle I have on my Engineer can't actually be zoomed in at all. Which is a real shame.

So in my opinion I would say for Range pick Evoker and for Melee pick Guardian, or Blademaster.

Yes, Zoom is a neccessity for the future dev I think

You do get a zoom but it's the ability called snipe, and it's a MUST HAVE ability if you're a marksman as it works on all guns and rapes everything, the downside is that you can't move and I think you take a bit more damage while in that pose

Ahok, so I guess that sniper rifle isn't much use to my Engineer after all.

Just for the sake of interest, this is the ideal build I would be looking at for my Evoker. http://www.flagshipforums.com/Hellgate/Evoker.php?12,12,9,9,0,0,1,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,12,12,12,12,12,12,12,12,18,18,18,19,18,18,2 2,22,22,3,3,4,4,19,19,20,20,20,7,7,7,2,20,9

I haven't used Arc Legion or Spectral Curse yet though, so they might suck ;)

Hmm yeah forgot to say it's Marksman only, I agree there should be a mini zoom though, not that it would make much of a difference but every little helps :p:

Ok so i hopped on my Blademaster last night and had a muck about.

I sat back and thought heh i think i will see what the Engi is like...

OH MY GOD. What a quality character. All these drones doing the work for me...pfft think i will level him instead hee hee I AM JUST SO LAZY!

Do bear in mind that the Engineer can have a maximum of 2 types of drone active at any one time, alongside the main battle droid.

Myself, I am focusing on beefing up the 1 battle droid, rather than all the little drones. Be interesting to see how you get on, do let us know :)

I found this build on another forum. I liked the look of it so am going to try it out.

What do you reckon?

Attributes

Roughly spent like this, with 20 always spare for that special item that will probably drop.

Accuracy: 2
Strength: 1
Stamina: 1
Willpower: 1

For around the first 10 levels to get a nice even base spread, then:

Accuracy: 2
Strength: 0
Stamina: 2
Willpower: 1

possibly alternating stamina and willpower as the +2 stat.

For skills I decided on this: http://hellgate.ingame.de/skilltree/engineer/?l=50&s=12a070500330015050000030000 I have 5 skill points left over to be assigned where I need them, probably gun retrofit to get the extra accuracy, but I might spread it a little and have some in Smackdown.
