Right people , why do so many people not like this map ...lol

seems to be at times it makes lots of people leave ? and does anyone know any other simmilar maps apart from sniper / redeemer heaven

I like Darkcity ][, I think that this map is to big for normal combat. In this map you get the moust points by shooting whit the sniper, so I guess that many players don't like that special gun. And of course I haven't seen that this map had ever finished before 15 minutes.:confused:

It's a goodie but you need six players or more to make it fun.
Sniper heaven is my fav map by far.

I also like those large room maps but it's annoying when your sniper cannot reach someone on the other side of the room! I know of some mods that allow the sniper to reach anywhere though.

surely it carries more enjoyment than the spam fest that is Beta Funnel IV , where u have 800 fph and still get no where near winning? IMHO ofcourse

I think it's a great map. I'm not a fan of the smaller frag-fest maps because I'm simply not quick enough. First time I played Dark City I got a bit lost and well and truly PWND by Bruce, who knows the map well.

So I played it several times on my own server, (sometimes alone - BOTs are crap at it anyway!), just so I could try and learn some of the hidey holes and sniper spots, to be better the next time.

I certainly prefer it to Sniper-Redeemer-Heaven, though I do like that one too.

I wasn't comparing it to the likes of any funnel map

when UT was released the maps contained within it were meant to be for DM open play.
sure a few smaller ones existed but those were meant for less players.

the average sized maps like Deck or can easily support a 1on1 as well as a 10 player free or all.
players got used to open play with dm and the sniper types stuck to ctf maps like Face.

generally speaking most UT players still favour open play and maps like DC are boring to them as it is difficult to find anyone to kill.

so DC comes on and 5 players leave leaving 5 out of which 3 take up good sniping areas and the other 2 get shot to **** finally get bored n leave too.

It's a shame you can't specify bot numbers per map.

Also a shame you can't force mutators per map - but if somebody wants to do us a low-grav dark-city, I'll whack it on instead. I think lowgrav would make for a more fun game too. Hammerjump to the tops then. Shame we can't add trans for one map too.

As a died-in-the-wool insta player I have the attention span of a goldfish and the bowl that is darkcity ][ is too big. By the time I've found a weapon I forget what I'm meant to do wiv it. :):


There's literally thousands of dm maps for ut99 and some of them are quite good though.
