Looks shiney, i dislike jump freighters with a PASSION though. Estimated cost is 8-9billion when they eventually get invented. IMO should be a TI ship, lower cargo but slots. Be alot more useful and it wouldnt fudge alliance supply chains as they change over.

still a bit of a newb with regards to some of the more complicated game mechanics... can you explain why is that a bad thing ?

From what i can see they could skip gate camps? I would have thought stealth-cyno's would be more of a worry for alliances.

Jump freighter issue is that currently people run alliance logistics with carriers, whose logistic capability is being nerfed at the same time jump freighters come in. This means that alliances will need jump freighters to fuel POS networks, but as they're new, it will take a month to research freighter BPCs for T2 freighter invention. So there is a month or so where alliance logistics is utterly ****shoed.

Eve will adapt quick enough- not going to be much of a hassle for the big alliances.
Looking gd just need a relase date, the file size and how long tranquility will be down for.
Aardvark

Oh they'll adapt, the trouble is that game mechanics mean you CAN'T adapt for a month, which is a bit crap.

they will still have the jump capability but they are having their cargo capacity reduced.
the changes that are being made are not necassarily removing the current functionality of the carriers but rather making it so that you cant do all of the things you can at the moment with just one fitting. i think there are intending on making it so that you can do what you can currently but you need to alter the modules on the ship to do a particular function. i.e if you want the corporate hangar then you will need to fit it which will take up slots.
basicly the carrier will be just as good at a particualr role, it just needs to be setup for that role specifically.
at least thats the way i understand the changes

Thus far from being on sisi carriers are exactly the same as they were EXCEPT ships in the ship maintenence bay cant have anything but fitted modules/ammo/charges in them. Ship maint bay has been buffed to 1mil m3 and carriers still can drop 10 fighters as a basic if you have carrier 5.
ATM alliances will be moving ALL their stuff around the place so they wont have to haul after Trinity. Though the rorqual can cover a fair bit of hauling too.
I still feel jump freighters need something more for their defence, they are one of the most vulnerable ships ingame and will be the 3rd highest priced (excluding faction)
I just cant wait for the graphics, moved all my empire ships and TII stuff into one system so i can go nuts with fraps :D

I took these after I remembered I could enable AA in EVE by forcing it via the nvidia control panel:

Was tempted to switch to Advanced Weapons Upgrades 5 - which would keep me training 'till well into the New Year. Left it on a week's worth of Evasive Maneuvering instead. :)

I'm hoping it will run on what I already have (8800 GTS)? The requirements aren't that crazy are they?

The 8800 GTS runs it very nicely indeed :cooler:

Hopefully my 7800 should be able to cope. According to the test tool you can download it does.

Mine's the 512MB overclocked "not quite a GTX" one. :) So I should be fine.

It only really rapes new graphics cards when you set shadows to SILLY level.
I think i set long skills on all not sure, doing energy grid upgrades 5 (HOW did i not do this on my main sooner?!) as marauders are wanted (golem golem golem).
Stupid advanced weapon upgrades 5 next though :(

I just noticed the "EvE extended downtime site" has been updated with:

Trinity on schedule
We're about half way through deploying the Trinity expansion to Tranquility and we're on schedule. After a long night our crew has taken a short lunch break and they're now back at their desks, working hard to make the rest of the deployment go as well as the first half did. Tranquility is expected to be back and open for business at 02.00 GMT, 6 December.
On time, o rly?

I am very curious to see what exactly they're doing that could possibly take so long, were it planned and tested correctly?
I am also considering reactivating my Eve subscription once my interest in TF2 dies down :)

Probably not opening the server to the great unwashed before they've let it pootle along on its own for a bit to see if it breaks.
Normally patchdays are marked by a nasty case of the crashings at about 11pm GMT when the db decides a bad thing just happened to it and it would like to go for a lie down now thank you very much.
Silk75
5th December 2007, 18:12
Yes Russ, you should reactivate, its good fun
Thrud
5th December 2007, 18:25
These big yearly updates always take 24 hours....As for testing, it's hard to test as they don't exactly have a second Tranquility to test it on fully...
Have you seen the patch notes, it is huge!
WhiteKnight

Eve isnt hosted on ONE server. Its a MASSIVE server cluster. They have to upgrade all the machines, ensure they are all playing nice with each other, and as Aard said, give it a few hours of bedding in time to ensure no stupid problems happen.
They can test as much as they want on the test server, but if you have the option you should always give yourself plenty of breathing room on a live server update.

Ah...but he said Golem....
I think Semajal has around 50m sp on his main, I've got a couple of 30m 'semi-mains'.
Though thats pretty irrelevant, you only need around 10m sp for a Golem (BS5 is around 1.5m with prereqs, AWU5 is 2.5m or so, EGU is 1.5m, few support skills and you're there).
It will, however, be **** and a waste of your time so don't do this anybody :p

Actually, as this is about Trinity...
The Premium GFX...
Obviously, for reasons known only to CCP, there is no AA. I was thinking of forcing this using the NVidia control panel... what do the Q's mean after some of the entries?
