The reviews of TF2 have made much use of statements like "It's nine different games at once", and I would tend to agree. I'm loving the game overall, and the ability to swap classes and get a completely different experience.

Obviously this is less of a feature in structured team play where you have a given job to do, but in a public where you can do what you like the ability to swap from the slow pace of say engineer, to the hectic dash of a scout is a real winner.

The classes are each unique, but they bring to mind many different previous game experiences. What do people think of when playing each?

Scout - Instagib, just for it's hecticness and your own fragility
Heavy – Missile command, or something else where you play a stationary turret. :)
Spy – The Ship
Soldier – Rocket Arena
Sniper – CS:S more specifically the Artic warfare magnum
Demo – The Quake grenade launcher
Engineer – RTS?
Medic – Dodgeball?? I seem to spend my entire time trying to heal whilst avoiding missiles. :p
Pyro - ???

Pyro = Flamethrower guy from Alien Swarm. (especially if FF is on!)

Other than that, your list looks pretty complete :)

Good call! How could I forget that!

It's bugging me that there might be a closer definition for engineer. What was that C&C first person thing?

Medic you could say UT link gun too.

C&C: Renegade?

I prefer relating it to Savage though... it's that whole no matter what, hit it with your wrench effect.

Hey, that's all I do all day at work. :) How it ends up turning out design drawings and data calcs I have no idea!

Also: Replace teleports with the Portal gun plzkthxbai.

That would be cool, but how would you destory the portals?? would shots go through the portal?. Unless engineer death = portal removal. Still I could see it working.. :D Of course flags/intelligence would not be allow through portals :)

Oh I have no idea how it would work. I just know what I want. :)

ive played all the classes a lot but just hit my 10 hours on engineer, they are so fun even on mod maps all you have to do is know who is a spy and I can normmaly tell just by looking how there walking now.

I've resigned myself to the fact I'm either a Heavy or a Sniper... sometimes I can throw a Medic into the fray

I'm equally split between Engineer, Medic and Scout at the moment with token time on the others. Basically, Scout for Rushing/Offence/Intellicap, Medic for Support/Offence and Engineer for Defence.

I often use combinations to get the job done. Like sap the sentries as spy then rush to get the intel as scout.

My stats in no way reflect what I enjoy as honestly i choose based on what the team needs, they are all so much fun!

I have most hours with scout and engineer!

Most points with heavy.

Medic/Engineer with a bit of Heavy/Soldier mixed in for that emergency defence/offence.

I play everything, least used are heavy, and scout..although i started out using scout as my preferred class. Theres nothing like the satisfaction you get from setting a soldier on fire as a pyro, watching him panic, then finishing the guy into a burning heap on the floor with a swift crack of your fire axe.

I have to say engineer, I have powerhouse defence on 2fort several times now with one turret and some carefully placed shotgun rounds to the back :)

however I was playing on a custom map called floodplanes (or something) and for some reason I decided to have a proper crack at the spy....GOOD LORD its fun.

Nothing can beat a 5 man butterfly anal rape......take that how you will.

Err with about half a tub of sand? :p:

floodzone you mean cabe? it being fun is debatable! The middle point is unwinnable because it takes an age, plus its a massive choke point of the map (bar classes that can jump over the wall), with snipers that can line of sight you from their spawn, argh! :D

The Heavy for uncomplicated, damage-soaking thickies
The Spy for your average stelth game dirtbag
And the Sniper for people who like point and click adventure games. Although in this case the only puzzle is "use Gun on Man"

Ahh Yahtzee we love you so...
