My problem is... I've got a BT Business Hub (complete package etc, although a residential user), and I'm trying to get Battlefield 2142 to play properly.
Basically whats happening is, everything runs as per normal, until about 5 minutes after connecting to an external server, at which point I'm getting disconnected.

EA are denying theres still a disconnection issue, so a skim over a few forums have mentioned that asides the extensive list of ports needed opening (which I've double checked are all opened properly), some routers, the BT Business Hub included use a SPI firewall, which causes the issue.

They suggested configuring it, or just shutting it off completly.
I'd prefer to configure it, as setting my PC as a DMZ seems tricky to someone without much router experiance, so has anyone got any experiance with this? Or could offer any help to get it running properly?

This is different to the Vista wifi SPI problem isn't it? The workaround for that particular problem is to enter this command into an administrator console.
netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled

As far as I can tell, the ONLY way to disable the SPI firewall is to set your router to bridging mode which effectively turns it into a dumb modem with no special features like NAT, firewall, DHCP or DNS. That sounds like a bad idea.
In your case, maybe setting your gaming PC to be in the DMZ is the way forward. The thing you need to be sure of is that your computer is well protected by a good software firewall as the router isn't protecting you when you're using a DMZ.

I found some howto PDFs from a US ISP that use these routers... maybe they can help?
