View Full Version : Switching teams

Hi,
some players seem to like to switch to the leading team and then type "!teams" to force somebody else back into the other team. This doesn't happen to even out the teams, but simply because they don't want to lose. IMHO this is not only unfair but especially annoying for the players who are thereby switched to the other team by the teams-mutator.
So my question is: Is this allowed? And if not, may I call an admin so that such a player gets kicked?

I do that to move myself to the losing team and help them out. And sometimes when i move to the losing team and end up winning I'm accused of making teams unfair...
But I agreen there is no reason one should switch to the winning side.

Have you ever saw me switch to a winning team? I would rather fight against them cause their more challenging than killing the n00bs. So thats why i switch.
Regarding your question..... I haven't seen 1 guy who switches to winning team accept Quik or time to time Marapper (for jokes).
No one does this i don't know who you got this idea from. The admins sometimes switch me around to loosing team, but if their not around i would do it myself and force a newbie player to go to the winning team to even the scale for a good match up.
Anyway if this mutator is gone then there will always be uneven teams and i won't have the chance to have a good match against good players.
I disagree with your policy and i don't think admins should do anything about it i think it's to the advantage of good players to even the scale and move to crap team to improve on them.

Maybe there's some misunderstanding: I'm not talking about switching to the weaker team to even the teams out. That's perfectly fine. What my posting is about is the opposite.
Maybe I should provide an example: Let's say it's 4:1 for blue. Now player X from the red team switches (actively) *to* blue and then types "!teams" to send a player who was blue into the red team. This does not happen to make the teams more even but simply because player X does not want to lose. At least I can't think of any other reason.
This did happen multiple times in the past. I don't want to provide any names here, that's not the intention of this thread. What I want is just an answer if what I described in the example is allowed and whether it's ok when I call an admin if it happens again in the future.

Good call, 'srat. you're exactly right about this. There was talk of a mod at some point that would balance according to player stats (frags, caps, etc) but I don't know if such a thing was ever found. The SLv servers seem busier than ever, and this is a really cheap way to be on the winning team. Drummer is also right about switching to the losing team. There are a few of us that will do this, but this noble act is cheapened by those who change teams to be on the winning side.

I would never do that just to be on the winning side, but are you sure people aren't just doing the opposite of what Crazy-Drummer does? Perhaps players who feel they're a bit crap are making things more fair by joining the winning team? It's the sort of thing I might do I guess.
Along similar lines, I'm sure I've been on CTF servers in the past, and seconds before the end someone has joined in, on the winning team, taken a few seconds of glory, then disconnected again. :p

if players feel like they aren't herlping their team and would want someone forom the other tem to take thay're place, they should ask the person they want to switch with first before going to the other side and typing !teams which usually sends one of the less skilled players to the other side which doesn't help the losing team at all.

I don't like switching teams. Remmember it's only a game.
I'm not switching teams if i'm in the wining team or on the loseing. I only switch when someone ask me to.

grow some balls and switch teams to make it more even.
isn't 9-1 a hollow victory if playing 6v3?
if you're playing doesn't it suddenly occur to you that the teams might be a little uneven?
